It seems that he is still adjusting to the speed of the game. He has laid some wood though.

Brown is leading the team in tackles, he does have an unnecessary roughness penalty that helped lead to a score.

Before the game, some were projecting he would be cut to the practice squad:
http://www.firstcoastnews.com/sports/nfl/jacksonville-jag...

We'll see how much this helped him. Brown had 8 Total tackles, 3 solo, while the guy ahead of him, McNary, had 3 and 1. The other third team linebackers, Davis and Horton, had only 1 between them.

They had the replay of the game on the NFL channel last night. Brown came in during the second quarter, he was constantly around the ball and he played fast, there were some issues in coverage with all of their linebackers, including Brown. He did leave for one series in the 3rd quater and New England scored on a five play drive and Brown came right back in. He should be moving up the depth chart.

Can you back that data up? Because I'd love to see it. I think he had 3 in one season.

There's no way that can be accurate that he only had three in his career. I'm sure he had more than three personal fouls of varying kinds in his senior season alone. It was his biggest flaw. And when I said it sounds familiar, I meant all of it. Him being all over the field making plays sounds just like him, too. Overall, I was glad to take the occasional mistake where he was too aggressive, but I'm not sure an NFL team will.

Blair Brown was/is awesome. Wish he was playing middle linebacker for the Bobcats again this year. Occasional yellow flags included.

My guess is he'll get up to speed quicly and get in the rotation this year.

I agree, he was at middle linebacker. He has to shore up his coverage, but he was the best talckler out of all the backers. On one play, Brown came out of no where and chucked a tight end within five yards and the tight end fell, it was classic Blair Brown, you better keep your head on a swivel.

You want players to play aggressively all the way to the whistle, but if they do, they'll get occasional flags. That's why there is a consistent positive correlation between aggressive penalties and wins, even though there is a negative correlation between other types of penalties (eg procedure, delay of game, illegal formation, etc) and winning.

Love Blair Brown, and his toughness. But I'll take the over on this one. He may have had 3 or more PFs just last year.

Blair actually played Will. Polling is our middle backer if I'm not mistaken.

Blair Brown is listed as a week one standout on the Jaguars official site. Let's hope that he has a great game tonight.

He looks good! Once he gets the defense down his coverage should improve.
I'm looking forward to seeing him on the field again!

Good News, Brown came in at the end of the second quarter with the second team. He looks pretty good in coverage so far. He missed some blocks on special teams. He will need to get better there. The second half is coming up, check him out on espn.

He got a lot of PT in the second half and got a shout-out from John Gruden when he plugged a gap and stood up the runner short of a first down on a third and short.

Yes, that was a great stuff, he stood the ball carrier up and pushed him backwards. I love this video. http://www.jaguars.com/media-gallery/videos/EXCLUSIVE-Ins...

Blair Brown looked pretty good, on one touchdown he had a hard time getting off of a block. There was also one play where he got caught looking in the backfield and the fullback got behind him. One the positive side, he had another monster stop on first and goal, he really hits people. He came in with the second team and he also made a tackle on special teams.

Earlier this week, there was an article that stated that Brown was on the bubble because of his coverage woes and him not holding the edge, which is insane to me because he is their best tacking linebacker and all of them cannot cover. Tonight he had one tackle and two assist, he should have sacked the qb once but he elected to stay on his feet and contain the qb versus selling out and breaking down, the qb stepped up and completed a 51 yard pass. I think Brown makes this team and ends up being a second team backer. I think he should beat out McNary for the final LB spot.
