From the bracing and if its all video the video will be about x3 times larger than the old videoboard. If the resolution is x4 times higher too it will be a good upgrade. A big logo on top can give it a size factor.

I'm really hoping the board itself extends out from the brick structure to provide the largest screen possible.

If definitely looks to be mounted lower than the old one where we used to see the game clock.

Don't forget there will be a speaker structure as well.

And yes, a big logo on top would be the cherry on top.

Then, I hope that they prevent people from standing in front of it. On many occasions in the past you couldn't see parts of the lower section of the scoreboard because people on Victory Hill were standing in front of it. They should have some type of chain down the hill from the scoreboard in a small semi-circle to indicate where standing is not permitted. Probably the presences of a member of the OUPD would help to insure compliance. Kind of mutes the effects of a new scoreboard if part of it is blocked by inconsiderate fans.

Why we can't have nice things! Bigger scoreboard and already a complaint about keeping people off the hill.

I just hope they use the new board to show more game-related video and not just for advertising as it's gotten to be the last couple years. I hated when the announcer said, "Look at the board for (whatever)" and all we saw was another advertisement.

Well, I expect you'll be bummed. After showing replays, I assume the commercials will dominate and there will be some really, really corny fan participation stuff.

I heard there will not be huge speakers on the hill. Anyone else hear that?

Truth be told, with today's advanced sound systems, do the speakers need to be big anymore? Not an expert myself, so I probably speak from ignorance, but it seems like speakers generally are smaller today but deliver more sound. Just a thought.

First hand report. The screen will be made up of 162 panels. The speakers will be mounted on the old pylons. They are hoping the panels arrive next week.

As long as the video board is the length of the brick structure and supports we now see we should have something that is 40 feet wide compared to the existing 20 foot wide video board that is 15 feet tall (3x4 aspect ratio).

BG's video board is 19'x35'
App State's video board is 17'x40' with integrated scoring and yardage info.

Just depends if they choose to display the game clock and potentially scoring info. I hope they allow for video to be displayed at a 16x9 aspect ratio and/or make room around said video for displaying scoring/clock/etc. if needed.

Most of these newer installs have the speakers mounted above the board behind painted mesh with the university logo or stadium name. If we stick with vertical towers next to the video board I can only hope they top it off nicely.

According to what I was shown and told yesterday they'll be on the sides on the existing pylons.

I just hope this bigger, larger scoreboard is able to play the "Bobcats just want to be Bobcats" commercial at every timeout.

How in the name of Bubba Lichtenburg did they get an actual Bobcat on the goalpost?

A modern version of this would be outstanding.

Also, how great it would be for a first Saturday in November home football game. Sigh....

I could definitely see using a modern version of the clip from :37 to :40 at critical junctures in the game, like after at 3 and out, or after a score.

I remember that Bobcat video. It was really well done. I always thought that Hub Burton was a class act, and that he did a good job directing OHIO's institutional advancement efforts. He was pretty good as a TV sports announcer, too.

Saw the still empty scoreboard today at the scrimmage. There was a solitary worker in a fluorescent vest making noise of some kind all morning, but I'm not fully convinced he was actually doing anything productive....lol
