Will the temporary scoreboard actually be operational?

At 2:00 today there was video on the screen - 30% of the surface was advertising and 70% video. I took pictures but have to plead ignorance on how to post those.

I'll say this - this is a definite upgrade and it's the "temporary" board.

Looks like it's from this century so that's good. I hope it's waterproof :)

When I was there it looked like the lower part was high enough that no one could stand in front of it to block your view of it. However, from the angle of Alan's photo it looks like someone could stand in the sight lines from the seats in the stadium. I'll bet you if there's a crowd on Victory Hill, some fools will find a way to block the lower part of scoreboard and no one will do a thing about it. Again, this assumes that the angle of Alan's photo is not deceptive. I certainly hope my original impression of the height is correct.

Even as a temporary video scoreboard, that's a huge upgrade from the previous one! Wow! Not too shabby.

The fact that a "temporary" video board is an upgrade (and it clearly is) speaks to how absurd it is that it took so long for us to replace our old scoreboard.

My worst fears were realized -- about 15-20 a-holes stood in front of the scoreboard for the better part of the game. There was no effort to get them to move. The crucial information was at the top of the screen so you could see Score, Time, etc., however at times part of the various messages and videos were obstructed by these a-holes. Why in the world would you put up a classy new scoreboard than allow people to obstruct part of it? This makes absolutely no sense to me. BTC will say I'm just being an "angry old man," but I can't believe anyone would find this kind of behavior acceptable.

The scoreboard is a temporary one until the Kansas game.

I just hope the "real" new one will be bigger - this one not much bigger - but definitely better quality images. And I hope we get same more game stats w/the new "real" one.

An unexpected upgrade is the game play clocks - Bigger, brighter, Real easy to find and see.

And - pretty compelling to me - a Gyro and a beer - awesome.....

From my seat in row 18 the cluster of fans in front of the scoreboard didnt really block anything that i noticed but I do hope the new board is up higher. I'm hoping we`ll see replays on the permanent board. The screen just showed a big spinning disk with "Ohio" on it between plays where the replays should be.

The new auxillary scoreboards in front of the corner stands and the new 25 second clocks are very bright LEDs and will take some getting used to.

The staff has a lot of training and learning to do with the new boards, people should be patient as the season progresses and things move forward.

At one point when they noted the scoreboard was temporary, they said the actual scoreboard would be "slightly bigger."

I agree on the other small scoreboards on the other end that just have the time and score. Those are much more visible and easy to read.

Regarding the scoreboard, temporary though it be: it's definitely an improvement in quality over the old setup. However, and I hope this will change, it's still just a large advertising board. I realize it helps to pay the bills, but it really bothers me when Lou (p.a. announcer) says, "Look to the scoreboard for the drive summary," and only the words "Drive Summary" are written there with a picture of a car. Really??? And the "play of the game/day" was from an old bowl game. Sorry, just an old guy who expects a little more.

Oh man.

The order of importance of going to a game for most here:

Your Smart Phones
Padding for you seat
The tailgate.
The stadium eateries
The SCOREBOARD
The facilities.
The teams uniforms
The actual game
The 110.

My order:
Football and the band and who should give two Shids about anything else?

Really, aren't three year olds the ones who need constant stimulation? The next power grid failure and many of you will be jumping off buildings with out your stimulation fix for the minute.

To the AD, thanks for wasting the money on the score board at the football venue and BBall; when the only thing needed is to know the score, the down, the quarter and the time. Couple this with the PA announcer saying: at the end of the 1st quarter its Miami 3 and Kent State 21. Now that is excitement.

Furthermore, the consequences of the advertisements on the scoreboard will mean less and less and the even less of the 110 playing. Then, get rid of the bands altogether as they cost money and the U could make more dough by advertisements on the jumbo instead of the halftime show.

Go Bobcats, beat Purdue.

Hells bells, you will excuse anything just to get in a snarky comment directed at me. Says more about you than about me. And, to answer the other poster, I sit in the second row of the Phillips Section, which is much lower than you, from my angle the idiot assholes standing in front of the scoreboard do block part of it. There is absolutely NO excuse for the Athletic Department to allow this. It would be so easy to just ask people not to stand in front of the scoreboard. There's so much other real estate on Victory Hill to occupy, but the assholes all congregated in that one area. Inexcusable. In the words of my friend and former student, Chuck Landon: UNACCEPTABLE! ;-)

I agree that, even though the board last night was temporary, it is a huge improvement over the old one.

They definitely need to sort out the new sound system, especially when the ref is on his mic. Sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher right now. I will say that the new speaker placement is encouraging.

Also enjoyed having a Chomolungma during the game, but at 8bucks a pop, I won't have many!

Geez, calling people "A-holes" for standing on top of a hill. Imagine that.

The crowd made a little noise on a couple early 3rd downs. Otherwise, it was a non-factor (i.e. typical Ohio football crowd).

So here's a hypothetical question. If standing in front of the scoreboard is a big deal, is someone standing up in front of me and blocking my view of plays during the game a problem too?
