I'm trying to figure out who the starter should be at QB ever was in doubt. And I liked some of what I saw from Quinton Maxwell last season. But c'mon. I don't know how Nathan Rourke practices, but this guy looks like a real gamer. He comes to ball. I'm excited about what he brings to the table. Hope they can keep him standing, though.

Breaking that sack and 5 more tacklers for a gain was impressive. That difference in running ability in any other program locks up a starting job. Maxwell is only a redshirt sophomore so his experience shouldn't have accounted for that much.

Rourke did look very good, and Purdue didn't call off the dogs or anything they were still bringing pressure in the second half.

Probably Rourke does get the start but if experience is any guide, odds are good Maxwell ends up playing meaningful minutes this year too.

Definitely a loose cannon, but a refreshing change of pace to keep plays going.

Logically one has to think that Rourke earned the starting position with his performance last night. He is definitely, as someone else pointed out, as gamer.
He is an exciting player to watch and looks to make plays. He completed almost 70% of his passes last night without an interception. He has shown me an improvement from last week and against a much better team.
1 thing that I believe we need to do more of is QB runs. This adds that extra dimension to the O.

Seemed pretty clear that with Rourke at QB, the team played with more fire.

Maxwell simply struggles with accuracy but is such a good athlete. Kid has size and speed if he isn't playing QB could he move to say LB?

He could be a great tight end. He has an NFL arm, but he cannot throw into small windows.

1000% Maxwell starts AGAIN

And Frank continues to use the 2-QB system.

This. Is. Ohio. Football.

I like effective QB runs as much as the next guy. Problem is, who is the last Ohio QB to make it through an entire season who had 10 or so carries per game? The main thing, to me, is to keep Rourke on the playing field.

I agree that Rourke won the start. He's the better passer, and a heck of a scrambler, plus does a good job running the option. I think Maxwell is better than he showed last night, though. I think he had too much adrenaline. All his throws were high.

I expect Maxwell to continue getting minutes. After the recent years, I think it's important to have two QBs ready.

I bet Rourke starts next week. Since Maxwell didn't come back in to get any more reps last night.
