Does anyone know why they decided to tear up the front gates at the entry and take down the Bobcat statue days before a P5 game? I expect it to be a near sellout crowd for this Saturday, but I don't know why they would do this during the season.

Same reason we are waiting to repave East State Street till this fall when school is back in session. It's what my kids used to call "typical Athens." Can I get an amen, OCF?

or I can be lazy and just ask here and complain that it's absurd to tear apart the stadium during the middle of the season

It is called building the Academic Center. There was a delay in June/July regarding bids. Hang with it this year as it will improve the looks of Peden.

So we know that at least the outside shell will be done by next season?

One thing they definitely should do is make sure the broadcast team has pictures of what the academic center will look like, and what it's for. That way, when the camera catches the constitution they can explain what it is, and show what it will look like. That will give them something to fill time, and some free press for the University.

Another statue taken down. Politics, sheesh.

More importantly, have they replaced the temporary scoreboard with the permanent one yet?

Absolutely Mark! Why have we not seen anything on here affirming that the new scoreboard is "up and running." After all, it's only the most high profile home game of the season.

Amen, Bro! As I said earlier, the local motto on this type of thing is the maximum disruption for the maximum number of people. My prediction for East State is they'll start in November and continue into December and disrupt students at the end of the semester and Christmas shopping with the same project. Laying down asphalt when the snow is flying will be very interesting . . . if you believe some of the forecasts of a very early winter this year . . . [/Warning: some of the above is sarcasm laced with hyperbole, Viewer discretion is advised]

Not one of you would have ever realized that was a temporary scoreboard if you were not previously told it was a temporary scoreboard.

Merely incomplete what with the superstructure it's mounted on exposed.

I parked illegally at Peden today. Unticketed. Winning.

When we played an early season game at UK a few years ago the stadium was really torn up. This happens from time to time but in the end the temporary inconvenience is well worth it.

All over campus right now they have signs that say in big bold letters "POWER 5 MATCHUP VS KANSAS JAYHAWKS"
Of course in basketball this is a huge deal, in football.... not so much. However it is an excuse for me to drink all morning long and not feel badly about it. Maybe I'll see some fellow BA members at Peden. I'll be the drunk guy in the green long sleeved shirt with a visor on yelling about who knows what

Okay you convinced me to stand in front of it with an obnoxious sign. Any ideas? Preferably something about a lawn

The perfect sign would read "Free Shuttle after the game".
