I still can't understand why the line was Purdue -2.5?
If we all just take a deep breath and be more realistic then we would feel better about this game. We really only had a slight chance to win. We would have needed help from Purdue i.e. turnovers to give us a chance and that did not happen.
Our boys need to regroup and a win next week against a weaker opponent than Purdue will right this ship and make us all feel much better about this season.
How will everyone feel about this game at the end of the season if we see Purdue's final record at 8-4 or 9-3?

This was a very winnable game. We are not a doormat and the bookies and most people know that. We have to get better and play to our potential. Like coach FS said before we played a RANKED Tennessee and a RANKED Western Michigan, we play to win. As Les Miles said, we played sloppy and lost.

Hahahaha! Purdue won't win 5 games. Book it. 8 or 9 wins?!?!

C'mon!

This is EXACTLY what I expected.

Hampton tune-up was a joke. Got zero out of that.

Maxwell (again) proving that he isn't the next great QB... opening the door for this "veteran" coaching staff to implore a two -QB setup AGAIN

Benching Ouelette & Brown for fumbles in 2H accomplishes what? Agree it was good to get Ross touches, but why limit reps for top two RBs? Great... so again we have no "main guy" back there.

Secondary got shredded AGAIN. Stunner.

This was a prototypical Ohio football game. Sums up the program perfectly.

Good enough to truck the bottom feeders but not good enough to compete with superior opponents.

Very curious what will happen vs KU next week. I think Ohio loses. But this loss should fire them up... so maybe that's enough?

Like I said... thought this was a 6-6 team. Not sold like LC was on 9 or 10 win season.

There is some talent there... but as has been well documented here... It's badly misused.

Couldn't have been less surprised by this result.

What a saw on the sidelines last night was a team and a coaching staff that looking very indifferent. Aside from a couple guys. No leadership or fire at all.

We got worked at the line of scrimmage on both sides. I'm surprised our O-line looked so bad. Couldn't get much push or open up any holes. So of course on every first down and second down Albin decides to run AJ or Dorian up the middle. Ridiculous playcalling in the first half. Once we opened up the playbook and let the kids play in the 2nd half we looked a lot better.

Our D-line also struggled. No pressure on their QBs at all. Also, Hagan needs to HIT SOMEONE instead of going for arm tackles - he's in position to make plays but missed a few last night.

Former Bobcat athlete or not, Giacomo's presence on this site is rarely edifying and usually consists of throwing Solich Kool-Aid at people who recognize the glaring coaching deficiencies and want better leadership.

A fifteen-yard penalty at a crucial first-half moment for FS stepping on the field? Check.

OU's most talented player mysteriously playing terribly? Check.

Defensive players "pointing fingers at each other," as Russ, Rob & crew put it, at the first sign of adversity? Check.

Early playcalling that looks like it's, ahem, designed to lose the game? Check.

What I don't get is why Ohio's broadcasting crew acted as though the Purdue blowout was such a big surprise. Other than a respectable showing at Tennessee last year and a nice win at Toledo, Solich's Bobcats have rarely been competitive against solid-to-good FBS competition.

Rourke looks like a good addition, and he's a reason to keep watching/listening, but this team has no proven quarterback, thin WR corps and poor DB play.

Very minor point (but a personal pet peeve) not yet addressed: how can a team be penalized for delay of game following a change of possession? Inexcusable, yet it happened against the Cats in the first half.

+1, one loss to a team that was simply better than OHIO last night and folks are losing their mind.

I enjoyed watching my alma mater play a Big Ten team on national television. That doesn't happen very often. There always has to be one or more comments about "lack of fire" or "indifference". You are delusional if you think that our kids didn't care about that game last night. It's a long season. Try to enjoy it.

Another point that everyone needs to remember is that even a Big Ten bottom feeder like Purdue has millions and millions of $$$ pouring in on an annual basis due to the B1G TV deals, etc...it doesn't matter how bad Purdue does in a given year, the money keeps coming in and they are using that cash to make facility improvements that would lure any decent recruit to their campus. We will never compete with that and if we are able to upset a B1G team from time to time or even stay close in a game, it's a major accomplishment.

They didn't just have millions more, they had gazillions more. Kansas had gazillions more last year and we beat them. We beat Illinois and Minnesota in the past. Let's just stop with the excuses. We need to beat big ten bottom feeders, Toledo does. The old BGSU team would have embarrassed them. Bitchy's analysis was spot on. Let's prepare to beat Kansas this week instead of developing a moral.

Not an excuse but rather a reality check. Big difference.
