If the administration really wanted to make a few extra bucks, they would charge the 6000 or 7000 Mountaineer fans 60 dollars per ticket. Those folks will pay it. It will be a much shorter drive for many of them to travel to Athens compared to Morgantown. This game should be in Morgantown and only a one or two yr deal anyway. Bring in a million plus for each game in WV. As it stands now, Ohio gets a total of 1 million for three games. Terrible deal for Ohio.
Immediate money isn't the only consideration. Giving the fans a game with a P4 team at home can have a lot of intangible values in increasing fan support, school pride and athletic atmosphere. Last year we hosted Iowa State, in deal similar to the one we have with WVU, and we pulled the upset against a very good Cyclone team. This adds to a positive school spirit that one can't attach an immediate monetary value to. However, in the long run, I'm sure it helps get more donations for athletics, not just from your average donor like you and I, but some of our bigger bucks donors.
