FS1 just showed video. The playing field is literally inflated like a water balloon.

Haven't seen the video, but from looking at the stills,1:00 tomorrow may be optimistic.

As I've posted before,I design synthetic turf fields.

Synthetic turf can be submerged without without necessarily damaging the "turf" (mat) itself, but being submerged, particularly if water got under the mat and disturbed it,will do a number on the infill.
The infill is what provides all the "cushioning" and makes the filaments (grass) vertical.

The amount of damage depends on the type of infill.

You also have to deal with any "muck" the water deposits.

From looking at the pictures and video it doesn't look like the "turf" got disturbed.

Standing water,as long as it drains through the turf, doesn't really damage the infill.

If that's the case, and they didn't get any more rain overnight,it may be possible to get the field ready to use by "grooming" it.

Grooming removes any surface "dirt","fills in" infill and "straightens" the turf's filaments.

Has there ever been a more appropriate time to row the boat in Waldo Stadium?

That happened to our last turf in about 2003.

A stream of the game is available at wmubroncos.com. At the half, Akron is handling them 14-3

You can see from the stream that the turf is not in the best shape.

Several areas where the infill is "clumped".

Still,a lot better then a grass field would have been after the same type of event.

Akron appears to be the big competition in the East.

We cannot afford a loss the next 2 weeks considering we already have 1 MAC loss and we play Toledo and Akron in back to back weeks.

WMU was not ready to play. Their coach blew it in 4 quarter not kicking FG.

It will probably come down to last game!
