I think the proof in our improved recruiting is that we have several true freshmen contributing as key starters and key backups.
Some of the highest recruits are being red shirted like Cheery and Drake.
When you look at our kickers who are only sophomores and guys like Arp it is clear our recruiting has vastly improved.

It's amazing what a good quarterback will do. I think the recruiting has greatly improved from that one bad stretch (2011-2012?). Last year two guys were drafted by the NFL (and one was not late rounder). That would have been unimaginable even during the Grobe years. It would not be hard to believe that Hagan and Pling could play in the NFL in the near future. Having plus performance out of the QB position has allowed the team to overcome weaknesses in other areas (eg, weaker DB play vs. UMass and generally average at best performance by WRs since Papi got hurt). This has been lacking since TT left. I actually liked the stability and leadership that Vick and Sprague provided--however, they did not seem to be able to provide big plays to cover weaknesses elsewhere.

Hopefully success this year will keep the recruiting train on the right track. BG is seeing the opposite effect as they are experiencing some decommits. One of them is a RB up for the Mr. Ohio award, and someone we have recruited.
As mentioned in this thread some of the more highly touted players are keeping their red shirts.
If we continue this success this year then look for more outstanding players to hop aboard the Cat Express.
