Watching some of Akron v Buffalo and if the Bobcats don’t beat both of these teams by 2 touchdowns, I’ll be embarrassed. What’s even more depressing for the Zips is that on a Saturday afternoon with a beautiful stadium right on campus, there are about 15 people in the stands. What a pathetic display. Very sad. Akron is crap. Buffalo winning by the way, 20-14 with 11 minutes left in the game. Sorry, but I just can’t get over how Akron is allowed to stay in the MAC with such an embarrassing fan base.

Not sure why Buffalo didn't go for two.

As as Buffalo punted on 4th and 1, game was over.

From start to finish, playcalling by both coaches was questionable.

Buffalo and EMU have both managed to stay close, but lose all season. Too bad there is no EMU-Buffalo game this year.

The score 21-20. Ohio put up more points in its season low then either Akron or Buffalo did yesterday. Buffalo is officially eliminated from the division race. If Ohio takes care of Miami on Tuesday the Bobcats are up 2 games and tie-breaker on Miami with 3 games to play.

Well, I think our season low is actually 13 against Eastern Michigan. Overtime points don't matter in a fair evaluation of your scoring ability.

Edit: make that 6, since our only touchdown came on a pick 6.

My wife is from Akron (well, the suburbs). There is just ZERO connection from the community to the Zips. I personally find it bizarre. They all watch every second of every Buckeyes football game but their own stadium sits empty. That said, Akron is a FINE fine city, I love to visit and Bowden needs to get with it and put together a program that people are excited to see. It should be noted that although Akron is almost always in the bottom of the MAC in attendance that other large cities in the MAC struggle with attendance - Toledo and Buffalo come to mind. The MAC crowds are bigger in areas that are bereft of much else to do.

Sadly, you can say the same thing about any MAC school to at least some degree, including Athens.

I like the atmosphere that has been created in Athens in the Frank Solich era. We're always atop the MAC, but I digress, the entire MAC has an attendance problem. Here's a pretty good article regarding said issue. But I guess I'm most dissapointed that large cities like Toledo, Akron, and Buffalo (or Cincinnati, although they're not MAC) can't get behind their local NCAA team the way Huntington, WV does Marshall for instance...

I'd say that the only MAC schools that have a combination of love for the school and interest in both the basketball and football programs are Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan. And on and near all of those campuses you can find students and locals pulling for Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State ahead of their respective teams.

I went to every Saturday home game in Athens this year, and every visit I saw uptown full of kids in Ohio State jerseys, and bars and houses with Ohio State gear. The culture is better than when I was in school 20 years ago, but it has a long way to go.

Pretty irrelevant because it's Akron who Ohio is in a dogfight for to win MAC East.

Miami is DOA .... as if Buffalo (officially)

If 'Kron keeps winning, it leaves Ohio with zero room for error
