EMU imploding again. Up comfortably 24-10. Gets punt blocked and now tied at 24.

Eastern has lost 5 straight coming in excruciating fashion:

- Double OT loss to Ohio

- 24-20 loss at UK

- 20-15 loss at Toledo

- 28-27 loss at Army

- OT loss to WMU

EMU misses 42-yard FG as time expires. Refs throw flag for running into the kicker. They confer and pick up the flag. OT.

Definitely the Clark Griswold's of the MAC, can't catch a lucky break if their lives depended on it

EMU kicks a FG, NIU gets a TD and wins 30-27 in OT.

EMU being EMU. Losers simply find a way to lose.

Creighton has done an amazing job with the defense and was able to get a 4 star QB to sign. He hasn't been able to recruit more pieces to that school. If his team was in the MAC East it would be 5-3 probably.

EMU's last eight losses have been by seven points or less. They just can't seem to finish.

The prior coach recruited ROback.

I remember during during the closing minutes of the Ohio-EMU game, the commentators mentioning that EMU was 6-2 in close games under Creighton. I guess that's shot now.

On the flip side, there must be something in the air/water in Dekalb as NIU seems to pull these types of games out more often than not it seems-regardless of who the coach is. Will be interested to see how their game with Toledo goes next week. Hopefully they put a beating on the Rockets so they limp into Athens.

Then again I think I would rather Toledo come in at full strength so if we win it was because the Cats were the better team on the field that day.

It's probably safe to say Rod Carey is off the hot seat.

The fact that he was on it in the first place was ludicrous.

Speaking of "hot seats," how hot is the seat in Oxford these days would you think?

What temperature describes fan indifference? Tepid? I'd say the seat is tepid.

A QB who runs can make all the difference. Childers led NIU in rushing with 16 carries (including two sacks) for 54 yds and a TD. (He also had two passing TDs.) Roback had minus 13 yds on two carries (both sacks).

The program is miles ahead of where they have been recently, even without Ragland. I think he's fine. He just won't be leaving for a bigger school any time soon. ;)

If you read miamihawktalk, Martin's seat is very warm. You'll find multiple threads critical of him, and no one defending him. He did get some lukewarm praise for the win over buffalo. Here are some of the more recent threads critical of Martin:

As for Carey, I doubt his seat was ever "hot", but I'm sure it was becoming increasingly warm, until this year. He stared with a repeat MAC championship level program, and each year has been worse than the next:

2012 12-2, MACC, Orange bowl loss (prior coach)
2013 12-2, MACL, Bowl loss
2014 11-3, MACC, bowl loss
2015 8-6, bowl loss
2016 5-7, not bowl eligible

The trend can be your friend, but not in this case. If the trend had continued, and had they not been bowl eligible this year, I'm sure his seat would have been very warm.
