I know everyone here is focused on the Akron game tonight.

But,everyone should take a moment to remember,and if you are so inclined,say a prayer for 75 who died in the Marshall crash.

Yes, thank you, a truly tragic moment in the history of sports, which this Athens born and bred writer will not soon forget. It is as haunting and tragic as the Silver Bridge collapse. Thoughts and prayers are with all these poor souls.

I see you're from Lyndhurst,Oh.
If you don't know,Marshal's Q.B. was Teddy Shoebridge.He went to high school with cousin in Lyndhurst,N.J.

I’ve only watched it once. I may watch it again sometime. It was very painful to relive all those memories. Also, I had a little trouble with some of the minor inaccuracies that someone who wasn’t at Marshall in 1970 would never notice. Overall, it was a good movie that captured the emotions of those days very well.

Let me end on a positive note: A few months ago we finally reached the $15,000 goal to endow the Jeff Nathan Memorial Sports Writing Scholarship. Jeff was the sports editor of The Parthenon, the student newspaper, and was lost in the crash. I started the scholarship effort in the 1980s, and picked it back up about five years ago. I just got a report from Marshall showing the funds have now topped $16,000.

Intro video for the 10-year anniversary showing of the movie We Are Marshall, at the Keith-Albee Theatre in Huntington, WV on November 11, 2016. We produced this in conjunction with the Marshall University Alumni Association. The video features all 75 Marshall plane crash victims, including flight crew and community supporters. It was an honor to produce this video for the Marshall University Alumni Association.

Wore my "We are Marshall" tee shirt to the game on Tuesday night. I can still remember the party I was attending when someone came in and said that the Marshall plane had crashed and all were killed. I used to live in Charleston and had to fly out of that airport quite often. I had some of my scariest experiences flying using that airport and I assume the Huntington one is similar.

Ohio Cat Fan, I am sure the people of Huntington and Marshall appreciate your touching gesture. Keeping the memories and ideals of those who died tragically young, in whatever situation, is one of the more noble things anyone can do.

I was a senior in high school in 1970.

At that time I had been accepted to O.U..One of my friends on our wrestling team had been accepted to Marshall,on a football scholarship.

We joked about going from being wrestling teammates to rivals.

Then came the crash.

If you look at the people who got killed,several,including,as I posted earlier,their Q.B., were from North Jersey.

That meant it got a lot of press out here.

My friend decided to honor his commitment and played for the Young Thundering Herd the next year.

In "We Are Marshal" you can pick out his number as one of the blockers on Marshal's winning T.D.

After seeing the movie,my wife and I decided to go to Marshall for the fountain's November 14th "silencing" ceremony.

Got to go a couple of years ago.

Very moving.

We also went to the cemetery where the 6 unidentified victims and Nate are buried.

Again,very moving.

What we never knew was that the individual grave markers for the 6 unidentified players don't have a name on them.
