I was curious about the recent Husker beat down by Minnysoda so I checked out their forum and noticed an interesting thread called Worst Husker Football Coach.

Among the 5 or 6 nominees...which included Frank....current Coach Riley got about 60%. Frank was the only name on the list with zero votes.

I wonder how many votes Frank would get on a similar Bobcat poll?

On that poll, I'd have to go with Bill Jennings, whose five year .310 winning record is the only one under .471 for a coach who stayed more than 2 years. Considering that Solich's .753 record is #5 of 30 coaches, it's kind of silly to have even included him.

My guess is that we'll see TOS to Nebraska by Monday.

I'm sure there were some that wouldn't have Solich among their favorites, but seriously doubt anyone would have voted him ahead of Lichtenberg or Cleve on a poll for the worst Ohio coach of all time.

Edit - I found your poll:

It seems that few of the posters even know about much prior to 2000. If the same logic applied to an Ohio poll, the only candidates for "worst Ohio coach of all time" would be Knorr and Solich.

Disagree. Even the gentleman you referenced would not have cast that vote. Arguably every coach other than Frank that I've seen since 1979 except perhaps Grobe would get multiple votes.

Another interesting thread had a few fans who said Ohio would beat Nebraska...that would be a great game but I doubt if Nebraska gets bowl eligible.

It cracks me up that they call us The Fighting Frankies.

I would highly doubt that Frank would get any votes as our worst coach. That would be insane and ignorant. The better question is whether he would get the most votes as our best coach. I know he wouldn't get any/many of those at Nebraska (due to a legend more than due to his lack of success).

Since the Cornhuskers fired Coach Solich, it has been a slow inexorable decline for the football program. While he made some mistakes, the cast of characters they have had to follow in his footsteps, only seems to make the Cornhusker faithful's hearts grow fonder for a day when they were truly relevant and ascending.

Though they do have a rabid fan base, their location and lack of a local draw for talent makes them a harder sell in the Big Ten, simply because similar programs like Minnesota have young and dynamic head coaches (PJ Fleck.) He and other coaches like him are out beating the bushes and disturbing Nebraska's long established recruiting bases.
