However, I caution you BSHOT. I love your passion and quite frankly I pretty much agree with everything you post. They're always well-reasoned and backed up by facts. However, if you think Bobcat Nation is up in arms about Solich not winning a MACC in the last 13 years, you're going to be sadly disappointed. Quite frankly, I think 95% of Ohio alumni don't even know we haven't won a MACC in the last 13 years. Most alumni probably haven't even been watching the team on ESPN 2 the last 3 weeks. We BAers have and we're all over it. But we are the exception and far from the norm.
And before you tell me that more alumni are into the football team, I would say their interest is casual at best. We've had at least two generations of students who actually decided to go to the game leave the home games after the 110's halftime show; that tradition doesn't appear to be changing any time soon. And these very same people are now Bobcat football fanatics? I'm not buying it.
All this is a long-winded way of saying, that if you think there's external pressure from alumni or anyone to do something about the current state of affairs with Coach Solich and the team that wins more than they lose and makes annual appearances in bowl games, you're crazy. The vast majority of alumni don't care.
I'm not sure where this came from. I'm not suggesting there is a rabid fanatical Ohio fan base storming Scahus' house with pitchforks and torches demanding Frank's head.
I'm well aware of the apathy of our fanbase. I was at Peden with the other 4000 for that game with Toledo. It was an embarrassing crowd for such a huge game.
Anyhow ... I'm also not suggesting Frank be fired nor do I expect anything to happen.
My point was simply I've come to expect disappointment from this program. Their inability to handle the slightest bit of success almost every year is a bit discouraging.
To me ... that's a major flaw with the coaching staff.
Players change year to year... but these dreadful, inexcusable losses keep happening. Being unprepared, zero adjustments when you're getting smacked around... that's something a seasoned, long tenured coaching staff should have a grip on after 13 years, right?
This Akron result was no different than the Kent loss in 2010 that cost a MACC berth ... the 2012 Miami loss after being ranked ...
Same story, different year.
I didn't post slamming my fist, screaming something needs to change.
I was just pointing out the obvious ... and how I've come to expect these type of results from this program
