Hey, at least we agree they don’t suck now.

Some of us just have a different perspective is all. Probably my post should have been in the “apologists” thread and not this one.

And if you do go to Buffalo you are a better fan I.

I am always amused by the level of absurdity on this site.

On both sides my friend.

All in the eye of the beholder.

Some are cool with what happened Tuesday night ...

Some are not ...

I like Bshot44 because he's gets all upset and then he goes to the next game. He says he's numb, but I'm not buying it. Anyway, you want sad? I arrived right around Cleve Bryant's first year. From his first year to Solich's arrival the Bobcats record was 67-157-5. The average season was 3-8-1. 50% of the seasons the Bobcats had 9, 10, or 11 losses. 50% ! 1-AA teams like Youngstown State, Northeastern, Marshall, and Northern Iowa beat the Bobcats and we were not surprised. That wasn't just some bad 3-4 year period. That was 20 years. 20 years. Twentyfreakingyears. 20 years dudes. 20.... And, I had to walk up hill both ways to Peden Stadium. Before global warming. It was cold.

Frank Solich? Good by me.
Look...no one is arguing Frank Solich gave this program a much, much needed facelift, rebuild, etc.

But c'mon ... quit the "we sucked for decades and should just be happy with where are now cause it sucked for the better part of 3 decades"

Enough.

A 1970 Ford is better than a 1937 Ford ... but neither are as good as a 2017 Ford.

Why settle for "okay" when better is attainable?

I'm not suggesting Ohio needs to beat Alabama .... but for goodness sake, is it too much to ask to beat CMU & Akron when you're 10+ pt favorites?

Just because Ohio sucked for a long time .. everyone should just be happy they don't suck now? Really?

Dumb.
Maybe you should lower your expectations just slightly.

I love Bobcatattack and the passion of us posters-it's the one place where I feel like I'm not weird or creepy for being a crazed-out Bobcat fan.

Great thread and I love the passion! I hope for and sometimes expect a championship season and after Ohio's 38-10 clubbing of Toledo, I fully expected Ohio to beat Akron. HUGELY disappointed they didn't. And a little pissed off about it.

However, I caution you BSHOT. I love your passion and quite frankly I pretty much agree with everything you post. They're always well-reasoned and backed up by facts. However, if you think Bobcat Nation is up in arms about Solich not winning a MACC in the last 13 years, you're going to be sadly disappointed. Quite frankly, I think 95% of Ohio alumni don't even know we haven't won a MACC in the last 13 years. Most alumni probably haven't even been watching the team on ESPN 2 the last 3 weeks. We BAers have and we're all over it. But we are the exception and far from the norm.

And before you tell me that more alumni are into the football team, I would say their interest is casual at best. We've had at least two generations of students who actually decided to go to the game leave the home games after the 110's halftime show; that tradition doesn't appear to be changing any time soon. And these very same people are now Bobcat football fanatics? I'm not buying it.

All this is a long-winded way of saying, that if you think there's external pressure from alumni or anyone to do something about the current state of affairs with Coach Solich and the team that wins more than they lose and makes annual appearances in bowl games, you're crazy. The vast majority of alumni don't care.

I think all of us understand the level of general apathy towards Ohio Football. Since everyone seems to be OK with the plateau over the past decade, I am going to conform also. I plan to go back to my 2006 giving levels. If it's absurd for us to expect slight improvement year-to-year, then it is equally as absurd to ask us to pay a little extra each year.

I'll state my expectations for football. Be a contender for the MAC East and MAC title every year. Win a MAC title every once and awhile -- like every 4 years or so. Do some fun stuff like beat a P5 team and win a bowl game every now and then. Run as clean a program as we can. Beat Miami. Beat Marshall.

I'll add that I believe this is our ceiling. A hard ceiling. Due to the athletics philosophy of the university leadership, funding levels for athletics, and our geographic location and total lack of an economy in our region.

Under Solich we've been to the MAC title game four times and he lost all four. So, now I gotta decide. Has that been good enough even though we didn't win a championship? I have decided that in totality it is.

I sure would love a MAC Title though. Solich is very loyal to his assistants. I'm guessing another coach would have mixed things up more by now. But, that's who is he is. So I try not to worry about that much.

See you in the Convo fellas! (Where my expectations are pretty much the same as for football.)

The ceiling should be a NY6 rotation bowl, since there is no way any Group of Five team will ever be in contention for a national championship.

I'm not sure if this was meant to be sarcastic?

I dont think it's too much to expect to beat teams you're two touchdown favorites against

I'm not sure where this came from. I'm not suggesting there is a rabid fanatical Ohio fan base storming Scahus' house with pitchforks and torches demanding Frank's head.

I'm well aware of the apathy of our fanbase. I was at Peden with the other 4000 for that game with Toledo. It was an embarrassing crowd for such a huge game.

Anyhow ... I'm also not suggesting Frank be fired nor do I expect anything to happen.

My point was simply I've come to expect disappointment from this program. Their inability to handle the slightest bit of success almost every year is a bit discouraging.

To me ... that's a major flaw with the coaching staff.

Players change year to year... but these dreadful, inexcusable losses keep happening. Being unprepared, zero adjustments when you're getting smacked around... that's something a seasoned, long tenured coaching staff should have a grip on after 13 years, right?

This Akron result was no different than the Kent loss in 2010 that cost a MACC berth ... the 2012 Miami loss after being ranked ...

Same story, different year.

I didn't post slamming my fist, screaming something needs to change.

I was just pointing out the obvious ... and how I've come to expect these type of results from this program
