We wind up with 81 teams in for the 78 slots in the 39 bowl games. That means three eligible teams won’t go to a bowl. The list below shows the number of slots for each conference in brackets and the teams that are bowl eligible. Changes from last week include deleting Ole Miss, which has a self-imposed ban for this year in addition to next year’s NCAA-imposed ban (being appealed); substitution of UCLA for Cal (my bad); and adding FSU and NMSt to the eligible list. The conferences account for only 68 of the bowl slots because there are six at-large slots for the New Year's Six bowls and four slots in the playoff. The 6-6 teams from “G5” conferences that have more eligible teams than bowl slots (CUSA, MAC and MWC) are less likely to get a bid. They’re hashtagged.

So the MAC has Buffalo and WMU not going. UTSA the other team missing a bowl, they were 6-5 with the Houston game cancelled. They beat Baylor FWIF.

Everybody beat Baylor this year.

I'm surprised that NIU is at the Quick Lane Bowl instead of CMU. NIU generally doesn't travel well to Detroit, while CMU would've guaranteed 30,000+ there. Maybe Duke didn't want to play the equivalent of a true road game.
