I see that the Manning Quarterback of the Week voting is going on now. Guess who is one of the nominees? But don't worry, that's not national attention.
Yeah...that would be. That wasn't a real thing when this discussion started.
Why is this so hard to understand?
I think I'm getting, at least closer to understanding.
NOW we can claim he's getting national attention?
Look ... my position when this nonsense started was that it seemed to me that some folks were acting like Rourke was getting all this lavish attention from the nation for his unreal season and game where he scored 6 TDs. People were acting like he was a household name in college football similar to Sam Darnold.
All I was saying was literally no one outside of the Bobcat or maybe the MAC bubble had heard of this guy or probably knew what kind of season he was having.
At no point did I downplay his on-the-field play or say he wasn't any good.
I just wanted people to get things in perspective.
He's having a nice season ... we are all enjoying it... but it's not like he's been a focal point of the college football world. I didn't agree with people making him out to be the next great Heisman candidate.
Yes ... he is now obviously getting some recognition (Manning nomination)... but the ESPN Gameday Final thing is a little tongue-in-cheek because of the Canadian thing. Yes, it's good to see his name on the screen ... but don't get used to it ... it won't happen again this year thanks to midweek MACtion
