Yeah, it does sort of look this game, doesn't it?

Why would you poke fun at the Zips?

Clearly the better team on the night they whooped the Bobcats with the MAC East on the line.

If Frank had OHIO in the Boca Bowl it would be three straight lackluster performances to end the season for the Bobcats. OHIO's offense may have got into the 20's but the defense would have done exactly what to stop the Owls?

I WOULD say that there's no way we could look this bad against UAB but that would mean we will so I won't.

The MAC's off to another rousing start to the bowl season.

UAB is also not near the team that FAU is.

This is the game where Coach Heisman was looking for players to put in the game. At the end of the bench was a Cumberland player. When coach asked him what he was doing he said “I’m not going in for Cumberland...you guys are killing us.!”

I remember mentioning Kiffin in one of the other threads for job openings and someone had the audacity to say “Who would want Kiffin?”

In his first year he won 10 games, C-USA, and won a bowl game by 47. It’s like I know what I’m talking about or something

Kiffin took over/inherited a FAU program that in the three previous seasons had gone 9-27 winning just 3 games per year for each of the previous 3 seasons. So what is our excuse again for going 13 seasons with what to show for it? Sadly, I don't expect the 14th season to produce a MACC and I seriously doubt we will see a bowl win either this year or next. Okay all you Solich apologists, jump on me. BTW, have you all noticed that a lot of people are staying away from this Board anymore? One reason could be people are fed up with the same thing every year. Like clock work you can count upon us to tank somewhere during the season. Alright, I will go back into hibernation. Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy your little club.

News came out before yesterday's game that he signed a 10 year contract extension with FAU yesterday. Final terms haven't been released, but the annual salary on the previous deal was $950k, so this is almost certainly a $10million+ deal. (In all likelihood FAU will pay Lane for 1-2 years of this deal, and whatever school hires him will pay FAU for the remaining 8-9 years of the deal, so its sort of like an investment instrument...maybe a reverse mortgage?)

Lane Kiffin has to have had one of the oddest resumes ever for a DI head coach. Oakland Raiders head coach, Vols head coach, USC head coach, Alabama OC, FAU head coach?

I think that's the point. It boggles the mind that we lost to them! So much on the line and we lay an egg. Can't say it still doesn't frustrate the hell out of me. It's not like we can say Akron started playing good football at the end of the year. They still suck and we let them take our lunch money.

Where are the "beating a dead horse" comments?

C'mon!

When I post something like that I get blasted for be Nancy Negative.

It's obvious there are a lot of people that still bothered ... and have grown tiresome ... of the typical Ohio football season.

The mind-boggling loss ... the inability to finally get over the hump and win a MACC, or hell, even back-to-back East titles.

It's been 13 years of Groundhog Day .... but those that point it out can trade in their Bobcat Fan Card and go sit in the corner to pout. How dare anyone bring up the obvious ... especially if it's negative!

With that being said .... Akron freakin' blew. Everyone knew that coming in. You even had established CFB writers crushing them because they only beat one team with a winning record all season. I'll give everyone one guess on who that was!

I feel for FAU ... first bowl in forever .... and they get "rewarded" with a home game vs. Akron. C'mon. If this isn't exhibit A on how the bowl system is a complete sham ... I'm not sure what is.

Wouldn't we rather have seen Toledo vs. FAU? That would've been fun!

Give Akron a game with some other 6-6 slouch ... or better yet, just quit giving 6-6 teams bowl bids!!!

Losing to that Zips team was nothing less than a case of coaching malpractice.

I don't normally lay blame on coaches. I think it is an easy way to make excuses for a loss. But in the case of Akron, there were designed plays that an average fan like me questioned at the time (no Monday morning QBing) that directly led to Akron scores.

Well, tongiht a 6-6 team (LA Tech) is CRUSHING a 7-5 team (SMU) at half to the tune of 42-10.
There are other "Akrons" in other leagues, it appears.

SMU is nothing like Akron. They lost their coach Chad Morris to Arkansas prior to this game, and also introduced a new coach prior to the game. It was extremely weird.

I was beating the drum about Akron in the context of this thread... I think it was implied earlier that we might be making fun of Akron to make ourselves feel better when it's just the opposite. Seeing how bad this Akron team truly was makes me feel worse about what happened.

If I had gone onto numerous recruiting threads or threads about the concession stands just to rant on about the Akron loss, then that would be "beating a dead horse" and would be "threadjacking". Why is this so difficult to understand?

Dude ... chill.

I was agreeing with you 1000%

I was simply pointing out there are others that are equally bothered by the Akron loss.

I wasn't saying YOU were beating a dead horse ... but that some have attacked me for even mentioning the Akron game.

And for the record ... I don't threadjack nor did you. Wasn't implying that either.
