Oberlin was the last Ohio team to beat the Buckeyes over 100 years ago.

I really don't care how many Buckeyes get hurt! ;-)

Have to hope that Bobcats come into the late September games without a ton of injuries. Not an ideal schedule for sure!

You keep repeating this blather. Obviously, anything can happen, and it's possible OHIO will have a lot of injuries, but there's no data that I've ever seen that shows that G5 teams sustain more injuries against P4 teams than against other G5 teams. I've been at games between P5 schools and G5 schools where the former had a lot of injuries during the game and the latter had few if any. And, we do know that our mascot can inflict harm on the OSU mascot! ;-)

The atmosphere for this game is going to be electric... for a quarter. :)

But really, first home night game of the season? Texas didn't even want that smoke. Would be pretty awesome if we could move the ball and score a few TD, but I have less than zero expectations for this game. Sayin is just gonna be launching it 60 yards and hoping Smith comes down with it, which he will a lot. I think we're gonna be a pretty good team in MAC play, but lose by 60. Short memories, I hope.

Gonna be a very weird start to the year.

I will be there with Ohio A&M family members and I'm just hoping the game is closer to what we saw in 2008. And I still say we were robbed in that game on an illegal block in the back that wasn't called during Ray Small's punt return.

I hate everything about their fan base (including the family members with whom I'll be attending). Maybe they look past us. Maybe everything goes right, i.e. their new QB struggles etc., and I do like the look of our team coming back. And maybe my favorite Columbus band Watershed (who rarely plays anymore) will be at a local bar that night.

Lot's of maybes. Can't wait for this season to start.

Not sure if I'm more impressed with shorecats' taste in music (Watershed) or in his rooting interest (Ohio Bobcats).

But I'm definitely most impressed with his disdain for the o$u fan base.

OCF- call it blather if you want, but did you see the Bobcats opener at Syracuse last season? Captain J Wood and DB K Bannister got injured and both players were lost for the season. Those two weren’t the only players injured. Ask Parker Navarro about the Iowa St game a few seasons ago and his separated shoulder in mop up duty? The Iowa St game was on the heels of playing the Nittany Lions at Happy Valley. The Buckeye game will be the week after the WVU game and after opening with Rutgers. Playing three power four schools with way more NIL cash, way better facilities, nutrition tables and resources in todays NIL world is ridiculous. I’m not predicting several injuries, but playing three power four schools in consecutive weeks is not an ideal schedule. Ask your buddy Frank what he thinks of that type of schedule? You and I both know his response. You don’t see Toledo playing that non league schedule.

It may not be the ideal schedule, and Frank wouldn't have stood for it. He would have insisted at least one weaker team in the mix so it wasn't three P4s in a row, but he wasn't afraid to play them either and had some P4 scalps -- Pittsburgh, Illinois and Penn State come quickly to mind. He had the coaching gravitas to talk back to the AD. I'm not sure your buddy Tim Albin had that, hence this schedule. This is Tim Albin's schedule, like it or not, that Smith is saddled with, but I don't hear him complaining. Brian strikes me as a very business-like guy who will take it all in stride and may surprise with a win or two as we run the P4 gauntlet.

You are absolutely incorrect OCF. This is the female athletic directors schedule. Illinois was replaced by TOSU for more cash and she added WVU a few seasons ago. Frank never played three power four schools in three consecutive weeks. Ask Frank, Smith or Albin and they will tell you this type of schedule is ridiculous. This football program just lost four starting DL players to places like Rutgers, Maryland and Missouri. They lost an all MAC LB. They are replacing four starters on the OL. Sure, the cupboard is not bare, but this isn’t Columbus where they reload yearly. This isn’t a power four program with unlimited resources and NIL funds. You don’t see Jason Candle at Toledo playing this type of schedule. Do you see Boals playing this type of schedule? We all know the answer to that question.

Just so I'm following, our players can't play against P5 teams in consecutive weeks because P5 players are too big and fast and will injure them.

But our players can play for P5 schools who play P5 schools week in, week out.

More incredibly strong logic from male message board poster.

If you think Boals wants to play 75 percent of his non league schedule vs power four schools then you are living on another planet. 🤣🤣 Look at his schedule the last few years. Any power four schools?

You missed my point. If Tim had the coaching gravitas of Frank, he would have been able to stop the AD from scheduling three P4s in three weeks. He didn't. So, we got this schedule. This is on Tim.

First of all, Boals openly talks about soliciting every power conference school this side of the country for games. That there are so few games against these types doesn't mean it's his choice.

Secondly, I understand your point about injuries, but that's really not at play in basketball. It was weird to rope in basketball.

Bobcat1996 was friends with Tim Albin. And now his friend moved away.

And so Bobcat1996 is doing the obvious thing that any adult would do in that situation: throw a public fit and make weird, sexist accusations against his friend's former boss publicly.

Yep, she's never just "our AD." She's "our female AD." That says it all. I'd love to watch a debate between the two. She'd run circles around his miserable ass.
