I just noticed that online sources are saying that Ohio’s endowment is now over $1Billion. I’m not sure what that means for athletics but it’s a nice number to reach.

Must have been a fairly recent big donation. The last I saw we were sitting at about $790 million.

I've long viewed hitting $1 Billion as a long term goal. The question I think is what is the next target for the university. Federal grant space is too crowded and has a poor outlook in this political climate. NIL and player settlements act as a counterweight for continued spending on athletic facilities.

Been some good articles out there with the Harvard situation. Endowments are pretty restrictive as for where they can and cannot be spent.

Forget it. Now they’re saying 802million at end of last year. Not sure why there’s different numbers, but it was fake news.

That number seems to be moving back and forth. Some of the numbers I've seen were as high as 1.4 billion including capital working funds. It can depend on what is spent out at a particular point in time.

What the university (and athletics) could use the most is a few big donations to the business college. There is that open lot near Copeland that is waiting for a donor to step in so they can create a mirror image of the gateway building across from the Bentley Hall Annex. Also more scholarships will help recruit students as business schools in Ohio represent a contestable recruiting space.

Prior to the University System of Ohio establishment in 2007 there was an incentivization for universities to build out their footprint because the state funding formula was based on square footage. Everything since then has required a naming donor to kick off with the exception of critical student needs like the dorms. Any nice to have structures for sure.
