With the recent group of transfers added to the graduating players and the players who transferred out earlier, I expect a major step back on the defensive front. I’m hoping that the offense can really step up to put a lot more points on the board or it’s going to be a long season.

Well, let's just get through this spring transfer portal window and see what the roster looks like. A lot can change.

In today's world, no team in the CUSA, MAC, Sun Belt, AMCC or the MWC is safe from poaching? The power fours are the MAJOR LEAGUES and the schools I mentioned above are the Double/Triple A's. The landscape has changed big time and unless the Bobcats have a 1.5 million plus in the collective don't expect miracles.

I'm going to add, do not expect miracles with this ridiculous schedule the first three games. Just crazy!

The hard part will be keeping everyone positive after starting out 0-3. I doubt many think we're about to run through that gauntlet, it would be crazy if we could steal WVU, but just starting out in a hole is tough and can shift a narrative fast. Especially with a new coach.

Is 8-4 fair? Maybe. But it will be tough, and I know several on this board will be calling for Brian's head by October.

I think the offense will be good, EVENTUALLY - but how much does potentially 3-straight clunkers vs P5 teams and the National Title winner weigh on a team? How much do you start tweaking things thinking it didn't work vs Ohio State so maybe it doesn't work at all...

Hopefully, no one gets injured. Regroup into MAC play and go try to win another MACC.

Looking forward to the spring portal when silly season really kicks into high gear. (Wigs and Owen both were spring portal guys)

Is 8-4 fair? To accomplish that, the Bobcats have to win seven league games and hopefully get out of the first three power four games with minimal injuries. It will be a tall task! This ridiculous non league schedule won't increase the odds of winning eight games. I stand by my thoughts on the football program playing 75% of non league games vs power four schools while the hoops team plays no power four schools. This is totally insane!

I remember when we played Pitt in Frank's first home game, the so-called "P" school had more injuries in that game than the Bobcats. I've seen this in other G5 games against Ps. Sometimes this injury scare that always surfaces when we play a "Name" school just doesn't pan out.

Yes, I've yet to see evidence that injuries increase when a g5 plays a p4. Keeps coming up, though,

As a player in that game I remember them like yesterday. The starting left tackle and guard for Pitt got concussions on the first play of their first drive (which was second series because of their opening kickoff td).

I would lay blame directly on the AD for not scheduling more P4 non-conference mens basketball games. The basketball team should be at least playing 50% of its games against P4 competiton to maximize chance of injuries. Oh wait I don't believe it works that way, injuries are fairly consistent for practice time vs. game time against varied competition levels.

This study list injuries for FCS program (Figure 1). The worst weeks for injuries were in fall camp. Injuries early in the season tend to be average while they play FBS programs in that timeframe.

Bringing facts, data, and actual first-hand experience to a discussion on BA is not only novel, in the immortal words of Chuck Landon, it's "Unacceptable!"

At the FCS level they rarely ever fund the team to stay on campus year round and have proper nutrition and training. So it’s natural they have more injuries when they begin real training and competition.
