Of course, it's not that simple for the Hilltoppers. WKU and the other CUSA members have all signed the league's Grant of Rights, which runs through 2027. If a CUSA school wants to leave prior to that, they would owe the league $800,000 for every year remaining until 2027.

Saw something on instagram that MAC voted to add WKU in 2027. Of course can’t locate that on instagram this morning…

I believe the interest on the Western Kentucky side has more to do with olympic sports than football. The WKU alumni in Louisville and Cincinnati can travel better in the MAC to campuses and championships in Cleveland.

My folks tell me this was an April Fools Day meme that took steam. Seeing how no definitive media coverage on the topic says someone got played.

True but there is mutual interest between the MAC & WKU to go along with TV contract alignment for 2027. This makes it a move that is not inconceivable but the MAC backed off before when Middle Tennessee didn't also join. Who would be the 14 in this instance Delaware? Middle to the SBC would hit CUSA hard and leave WKU and Del hanging w/ a potential MAC option.

Oh, there is no denying the door is still open, but that does not change that the thing was an April Fools Day joke.
