Anybody have any clue as to meaning of Javon’s recent cryptic tweets. Maybe I should just give up on following any of the players on Twitter because I sure can’t figure out what they’re saying. That’s probably good.

He is draft eligible. At the least he absolutely should declare for the draft (not hire an agent) and evaluate the feedback he receives. Issue will be if he hires an agent or not.

I don't think that the rule is the same for football players. I don't think that they can return. It would be nice to see where the scouts think that you need to improve. He should ask the coaches to ask for him instead of taking the risk of going undrafted. http://www.ncaa.org/remaining-eligible-professional-draft...

Yup - I think you are right. Appear players/schools can have the NFL Draft Advisory Council review an underclassman during December time period. They are then fed back where they could expect to be drafted (obviously not guaranteed). Guess is Hagan's name was submitted and he looked what he heard. But once he formally submits to draft he is in. We'll see. Hopefully all speculation.

I doubt that he would enter now, he would go undrafted. I hope that this thread does not hype him up.

Lol. I can assure you he is not turning to BA to evaluate his draft status or influence his decision. In preseason he was often projected as a 2/3/4 round pick. If he did submit to the commmittee and they came back at the higher end of that the decision is pretty easy.

There is no downside to declaring for the draft as long as you don't hire an agent. You get free feedback from scouts on areas to improve if you plan on entering the following year, and as long as you don't hire an agent you can return to school.

Hagan has gotten plenty of hype already.

Have you watched the NFL lately? Tackling is just as much as an epidemic, especially in the secondary, as it is in college. DBs and safeties just try to hit guys as hard as they can and rarely display fundamental tackling skills.

Hmmmm the last I heard, Hagan was getting his degree.... So I don't think the league was something he was considering now anyway. He was not happy with his performance according to his tweet after making 2nd team, so I think he knows what he needs to work on. He tweeted months ago, "The league is not guaranteed" Bshot44, you are correct, the tackling in the NFL is just as bad as some of the college teams..

Really? I thought I remember when he was drafted some Oakland coach saying they drafted hm because he tackled like a beast, or something along those lines.

Mike Mitchell was a much better tackler in college. Hagan has the ability to tackle, he was a little over confident this year.

I'm one of those. I HATE Mike Mitchell's tackling skills (and his coverage skills while we're at it) ... he can hit like a dump truck ... but that's his problem. That seems to be his only mission when he's on the field, to try and decapitate someone.

And sadly, those techniques have "rubbed" off on Sean Davis. I appreciate a hard hit as much as the next guy ... but I'd also like to see someone wrap up a WR or RB at the point of contact and not just watch them bounce off .... or get dragged down the field for extra yards.

He's really infuriating to watch as a Steeler fan .... and one of the reasons why I'm not 100% confident in the Steelers beating the Jags, even with Blake Bortles at QB

Maybe you're right about NFL tackling ability. Let's put it this way. Hagan is a freak athlete, no question. I guess what I mean to say is that if he wants to differentiate himself from all of the other "freak athletes" ahead of him in the Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, ACC... it BEHOOVES him to step it up immediately and become a scientist at tackling. He needs to work on that craft, much like Lebron worked on his shooting and has become an excellent shooter. Being a superb, high level athlete will only get you so far. And if just that athletic part gets him to the league, unless his skill improves, he will not stick. FWIW, I HOPE he does and wish him the best. But it got a little old watching him act like he was in on every play when he was ten yards away. And when a receiver drops a ball, you didn't exactly play good defense so why are you celebrating? Just maturity stuff and humility. Those MINOR, immature things can be corrected and I hope this kid grows up a bit.
