Yeah! We should be more like Tennessee! Those fans have it together!
No kidding! What a dumpster fire that has become.

Here's the difference ... UT fans are 1000% delusional thinking they are Alabama or Ohio State or USC. 8-10 wins and a nice New Year's Bowl is what Tennessee's ceiling is nowadays. They are no longer a premiere program like some of those others..... yet their fans think they should be winning national titles.

I think most Ohio fans would just like to see something more than what we've seen repeated for 13 years .... essentially the 8-5 (5-3) bowl loss season. I don't think it's delusional to think Ohio can rise to the top of the MAC and start winning league titles .... or even back-to-back division titles? Or even 10 games (considering they play one of the nation's weakest schedules yearly)

I don't think anyone envisions Ohio to be a yearly NY6 contender ... I think that is the peak of the mountain range stuff .... and i don't think that's within reach right now.

What I'm suggesting doesn't seem like a huge leap to me.
I don't think it is a huge leap. Overall, what you wish for is attainable and realistic. The issue is how we, as a fan base, respond when we don't get it. Tennessee fans have convinced themselves they should be challenging for National Championships at least once a decade. But when that doesn't happen, what do you do? It's the response that's the real issue.
I see what you're saying ...

But what I will offer is that Ohio has been tantalizingly close for sooooo long to finally getting over that hump .... only to fall flat on their face. It becomes increasingly frustrating.

It's not entitlement or absurd expectations ... I think it's the frustration of watching Ohio literally have Lucy pull the football from Charlie Brown's foot ..... and Ohio is BOTH LUCY AND CHARLIE!

It's self-inflicted. It's not like Toledo having the NIU thorn in their side for years ... where they've won 9 games and just can't beat NIU when it counts.

Ohio has thrown up all over themselves against everyone in the East .... Akron, Kent, Buffalo, BG, and Miami.

They are literally their own worst enemy. And it just keeps happening ... and happening ... and happening
This post features some unfortunate usage of 'literally'.
always seems to me to be a strange word to use incorrectly, and I don't get the fad to do so.
I literally don't care

I'm going to swim upstream on this one. A lot of folks still down about the end of the regular season (I didn't like it either, for the record).

But, I'm getting a different feeling about this game. I'm getting a 2012-like feeling about this one. The highs and lows of that season we're more drastic, but like the bowl that year, this one won't be in doubt after the first quarter.

The extra time for injuries to heal and the team will come out with a major attitude. I believe the Bobcats will roll in this one.

Just a feeling I'm getting over my coffee this morning.
Hope you are sipping a strong brew! :-)
Is there any other kind?

Still feelin it...Poling, Moore, Aloese last game in a Bobcat uniform...I predict some UAB ball carriers will be getting lit up. If AJ is able to at least see some limited action, it'll be a big emotional boost for the team. Let Dorian do the heavy lifting, he can certainly handle it (last game in a Bobcat uniform also). Spell him with AJ and Ross. I'm seeing a dominant performance taking shape for our guys.

Maybe it IS the coffee...

Your coffee is sending out an enticing aroma.

Would further enrich it would be Ohio coaching staff avoiding the tendancy to go ultra-conservative in their play calling.

Well, I mean, we can just keep saying the same things to each other. I'd like to be on the run Northern Illinois is on. We played in the MACC in 2006, 2009, 2011, and 2016. I think you keep your job when you do that and when you are the figurehead Frank Solich is to the program.

A quick trip to the Bahamas sure would be fun. But, not on the holiday schedule for me this year. Hopefully we come out mean and nasty on both sides of the ball like we did against Toledo and take care of business.

Having had a daughter who played college volleyball, this kind of video brings a tear to your eye after all these years because it shows the friendship, respect and camaraderie that comes with being a member of a team. Great share Ted. Thanks.
I agree, that is outstanding - definitely brought a big smile to my afternoon. This thread needs more of it.

Who are you yelling at in this? I just seems out of the blue in the whole thread.

Also, some of us won't be watching it. It's at noon on a workday for many of us. (I will be listening though)

From today's press conference:

On updates on Nathan Rourke and A.J. Ouellette:
"Nathan was a little banged up going into the Buffalo game, then he sustained an injury he could play with. He wasn't in the full strength but now he has enough time to get himself in good shape for the Bahamas game. For A.J., it will be close as to whether or not he will be in the game, we are not sure yet."

I can’t watch it live either as I’ll be working too, but I will definitely DVR it! The challenge will be not knowing who won the game beforehand.

Mark Lembright, I'm yelling at the negative comments I read stating how disappointed they were in the team, and would not be watching...so NO, it's not out of the blue, it's facts. There's a difference between "working" and just stating " I'm not watching it" I'm saying, to the latter.....THEN DON'T WATCH IT....That's all

I'm disappointed in the way the season ended the Akron loss is atrocious but I took the day off to watch the game, the Bahamas three days before Christmas isn't in the Valley Cat budget. I assume if you spend time on this board you are watching. I have to, win or lose my alma mater is my crack. I love the place and it's athletic programs.

Desmond again.

Oh well...he was fairly positive the first time. As long as he doesn’t confuse us with OSU.

Over/Under on how many sun/fun/beach jokes Desmond makes or laughs at?

1,000,000,000?

I'd still take the over.

For those of you who don't venture over to Siberia, based on comments President Nellis made at his Monday meeting with reporters, the 110 is not be going to the Bahamas Bowl.

It sounds like they'll be doing something like they did for the Potato Bowl.
He used the word "some" members.

On the Travel Thread, Bobcat110 previously reported 80 members were attending. I don't believe the President's comments refer to any changes in that.

Since I can't go to the game I didn't look at the Travel Thread.

While I'd obviously prefer the full band, 80 is a large enough group to get the job done.
