Bill Connelly does great work. Here's his preview of 2018 Ohio Football: At 73 years old, Frank Solich is just getting started at Ohio

The article has one curious piece of data. It claims that Rourke took 50 sacks at Fort Scott. Here are his stats at Fort Scott:

To me the most remarkable thing about those stats is that he took no sacks at all. So, did he take 50 sacks, or zero?

I do agree that the biggest thing I'd like to see is Rourke being more consistent in big games. He has a lot of potential, and I'm looking forward to seeing more and better passing from him, and less running.

YES. I remember early in the season being most impressed with the zip he had on the ball, and how he could put it in tight places with impeccable timing. I want that Rourke to come back. I don't want him having to carry the team with his legs.

It was a typo. Should have read "socks". He took 50 socks that season.

Judging from the videos of him at JUCO, he took 50 sacks. Every highlight was of him running for his life and making a throw.

While it is entirely true that he was always running for his life, judging by his evasiveness, it's also hard to believe that he was caught 50 times. Thus, both 0 and 50 are difficult for me to believe. How about 25? lol

I went through the box scores and there were 50 sacks attributed to opposing teams. He was virtually the only QB who played, so he probably was sacked 50 times. He only netted 27 yards rushing on the year. He had -77 yards rushing in one game (11 sacks in that game). Another game had 8 sacks.

Interestingly, Ohio is projected to be better than every team on its schedule. At this point, Ohio is an underdog in three games because the difference is tiny and they are road games.

His line was awful, we had to look at his high school video to see if he had am strength, because he was always on the run. Ohio's line was definitely a breath of fresh air for him.

Thanks for clearing that up. Fifty sacks it is. Ouch. I guess his 16 last year must have been a great relief, but I'd like to see even less this year.

Unless he suddenly becomes a 65% thrower (maybe, could happen), then you can expect more running and more option. He'll get hit and he'll get sacked. Should be interesting to see the progression though. Hope Q and the other dude are ready to roll.

I’m optimistic about Rourke’s ability to pass-I think he should improve. He had 2 nice TD throws in the Bahamas Bowl, especially the 70 yard strike to Papi White. Plus, this is Rourke’s first offseason as the unquestioned starter. I’m expecting improvement.

That needs to happen. He wants to play in the NFL someday, and to accomplish that, his passing needs to improve. To make the NFL, the second thing that needs to happen is that he needs to play best in big games. For me, his high point of the season was in OT against EMU. It was do it, or go home time, and he did it. We need to see more of that.

Came here to say this. His preseason work is some of the best in the business.

"Depth and scheme were major Ohio strengths, though, so this doesn’t have to be a deadly level of turnover; seven returning linemen had at least one tackle for loss, as did four returning linebackers, and quite a few of these players have been playing for Burrow for a while. The new starters could easily replicate a lot of last year’s stats with starter reps."

Good news on the defensive side. Also secondary should be better. Brad Ellis was in there last year because of such a large experience gap. Experience is overrated when balanced with injuries taking more career snaps.
