Why do I keep reading that rag that the Plain Dealer has become? In Mary Kay Cabot's article about the signing of four players by the Browns she drooled about one being from Ohio A & M but didn't even mention that T.J. played at the original Ohio. Either sad or sloppy.

Says so right in the first paragraph.

"He continued to overhaul the defensive backfield on Wednesday, signing former Ohio University product T.J. Carrie, a free agent cornerback from the Raiders, a league source told cleveland.com."

Well if it makes you feel any better, at the end of the WKYC Cleveland 6:00 news telecast yesterday evening, after sports anchor Jim Donovan and co-anchor Russ Mitchell commented that the Browns finally signed a Buckeye, fellow co-anchor and Ohio University grad Sara Shookman asked why no one ever asks why the Browns never sign any Bobcats, and while the other two laughed, she gave a playful smirk. It was pretty cool to watch Sara give the appropriate props to her alma mater. Sara was all over it at least.

Mary Kay is terrible. The Plain Dealer needs to release veterans like Mary Kay and stock up on draft picks. Follow the Browns lead and build for the future. It isn't like they are winning any playoff games with their current reporters.

To set the record straight, Mary Kay actually replied to an email I sent her about this and pointed out what Chris Galloway said above that it was included. She was correct to a degree as was Chris. It was included in her Cleveland.com article. But I was reading the print version where apparently the hacks combined several snipets of on-line articles and failed to include the OHIO reference. She pointed out she has no control over what appears in the print edition. That's sad in itself. So, to be fair, it was not her doing. But still . . . The Plain Dealer.

She did post a separate article on Cleveland.com about the TJ signing:

I don't get the Mary Kay hate. I don't like the complete changing of the media/newspaper industry itself, but I understand times change.

Mary Kay is not as bad as Herbalife and not as annoying as Rodan & Fields, but it's certainly up there.

She grilled him about his heart defect during the press conference. The fans loved him. They just kept lamenting how humble and wise he was. Look it up on facebook to see the comments.

The US Supreme Court once said, "For better or for worse, the job of editors is to edit." This is the "for worse."

watching that video makes me even happier that he's in Cleveland.

And on a scale of Skip Bayless/Elton Alexander to Jason Arkley, Mary Kay falls in the middle.
