If it's true that's too bad. I was glad he was a Steeler. But he should have no trouble landing with a good team.

Mike has made a bunch of money and has lasted longer than most NFL players. Good for him and I hope he can play a few more years for someone.

It would be good if he could go to the Bengals. I believe that is his home team. He got 20 of his 25 million and he is smart. He made the most of his opportunity. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/mike-mitch... /

The guy has lost a step and widely criticized in Pittsburgh this year. The Steelers overall weak secondary exposed him a bit.

Mitchell has had a nice career. Tarnished it a bit in the playoffs we he tried to act the tough guy against Jaylen Ramsey of the Jags. Mike and the rest of the Steeler secondary looked like a clown show...

As a Steeler fan, I will happily open the door for Mitchell to leave. He is a total liability in the secondary.

As a Bobcat ... I will say it was nice to see him put together an extended NFL career ... something we don't see with a lot of our alum recently with the exception of Dave Zastudil.

But man, between his inability to tackle & cover coupled with his constant yapping ... his act had grown incredibly tiresome in Pittsburgh.

as far as "extended careers" go, let's not forget cornerback T J Carrie at Oakland. 4 year vet who had his best season in '17.

Sean Davis isn't helping himself in the off-season: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/steelers/2018/0... /

Even if the suit goes nowhere, why is an NFL player making tons of money posting a video ridiculing a teenager working a fast-food drive-through? Stupid.

THIS is Steeler Football.

Absurd.

Steelers releasing Mike for cap space. Rumors will attempt to re-sign him to more favorable contract terms.

Is he still OU's most talented former player currently in the NFL? If he becomes unsigned, who will take over as the most talented? TJ Carrie?

Not sure where you get the “title” or term “most talented”? Current highest paid would be a more likely label.

You could look at it that way. But I don't always equate salary to performance in sports. By that measure, Jimmy Garoppolo is the best QB in the NFL. I don't think it's unheard of to ask who you think is the best player and that's what I'm looking for in this case.

You are correct on the Bengals being his home team. He went to Highlands High School in Ft. Thomas, (Northern) Kentucky (a perennial state title contender in Kentucky's second or third largest division depending on how classifications go every so many years). I think he played for Covington Catholic for a year or two then transferred to Highlands?

Highlands is technically closer to Paul Brown Stadium than schools like Colerain, Moeller, St. X and other Cincinnati area schools. Maybe 5 miles?

Wouldn't surprise me if he found a spot on the Bengals roster. I can hear a comment by Mike Brown right now on his signing: "Well he started for Pittsburgh last year so we signed him."

But Mike Brown is a whole other can of worms I just assume not open LOL.

I would like to see him land back home with the Bengals. He played for Higland one year and I believe was not allowed to play in their State playoffs, due to the transfer. I also think that I remember he won the court case after the fact.

It sure would be nice to have two former Bobcats playing in the state again. Facing off against each other twice a year...
