Reminds me of my first time watching OU vs Muck and we beat them handily at their home field but while leaving some students screamed at us "You win in football but we win in life" lol My hand still hurts from those words.
Like they were Northwestern or something. There isn't a university in this country where there is a such a huge gap between how prestigious its alumni and students think it is versus where it really falls on the academic food chain. Hell, it's ONLY single little moment of glory was that 35 year old "Public Ivy" book, and even that was a result of the state's AAU school being forced into open admissions by the Governor AND the author wanting to throw in a couple of wild cards (Miami & Vermont) into the standard list of the top publics of the day. It's why Fiami and Vermont are the only schools that still constantly talk about the book, because they've got nothing else to talk about.
I know the OSU hatred runs strong and deep around here, but I really do respect OSU as a university and what they overcame. I have no such respect for Fiami, its mission (which seems to be serving rich kids from the Chicago suburbs who didn't get into Big Ten schools) and the fact that it's done nothing except get in Ohio's way since the day Satan spawned it into that cornfield in SW Ohio.
