Ohio leads the way with 14 players. Toledo and Miami at 13 each.

I don't like this preseason hype. I can only be disappointed.

Computing that out with 4 points for first team, 3 for second team, 2 for third team, and 1 for fourth team, the offense looks like:
Ohio 20
Toledo, Buffalo, Miami 15
Western 11
Niu, Ball St 10
CMU 9
BG 7
EMU 6
Akron 2
Kent 0

Interestingly, they expect three of the top four offenses, and three of the bottom four to come from the East, while the West is clustered in the middle.

The defense scores:
CMU, EMU 15
Akron 13
Ohio, Miami 12
Buffalo, Niu 9
Kent 7
Western 6
Toledo 5
BG 4
Ball St 1

Special teams scores as:
Toledo 11
Ohio 9
Kent, Buffalo 4
Akron, CMU 3
Ball St, Miami 2
BG, EMU 1
Western, Niu 0

Two teams way ahead of the pack on special teams.

Adding them up with all being equal, you get :
Ohio 41
Toledo 31
Miami 29
Buffalo 28
CMU 27
Eastern 22
NIU 19
Akron 18
Western 17
Ball St 13
BG 12
Kent 11

It's not too hard to guess who Athlon will pick to win the MAC. That and ten bits will buy you a cup of coffee.

For another interesting number, lets divide the Offensive points by the defensive points. Obviously the average is one. Presumably a team with a high number has more talent on offense than defense, and will need to win by MACtion, while a team with a low ratio has more talent on defense, and will tend to play low scoring games.

Ball St 10.0
Toledo 3.0
Western 1.8
BG 1.8
Ohio 1.7
Buffalo 1.7
Miami 1.3
NIU 1.1
CMU .6
Eastern .4
Akron .2
Kent 0.0

It's looks like the West will once again lead in MACtion, but there will be some in the East, too. CMU, Eastern, Akron, and Kent are the exception, and will win some games with defense.

Last night at the Athens Bobcat Caravan Frank was really emphasizing the offense. He mentioned the scoring average last years and implied they would try to beat that this year.

I hope so, but I am going to stay pessimistic until I am confident someone (Irons, Ross, et al.) can fill the Dorian Brown "Second Course of Thunder" role.

Also, I'm gonna be weird for a second and suggest that maybe we need some dedicated series for QB#2 (Maxwell, I assume) in the regular gameplan, because Rourke's health has me a little concerned.

Damn it, it's not even June yet and I'm thinking about September....

I definitely want to see Maxwell, or Keszei getting time every game, for the exact reason you mention.
