While doing some research on another matter, I cam across this page from the Ohio student newspaper, The Green and White, from 9 Oct 1929.  I thought some of you would enjoy reading it, so I decided to post it here.  

Those guys and gals back in 1929 had visionary thinking, didn't they? ;-)

I guess that's what happens when you have a Coach like Don Peden . . . and maybe Frank Solich!

I was able to research the message board posts on BobcatAttack after that game in 1929. Here are a few from that day:

Great Great Uncle Wes: The Pep Squad is 30 guys in bathrobes and umbrellas? They need to be wearing fedoras and during pushups in the end zone. Embarrassing!

OhioCatFan: We need to do something about the vending situation at the stadium. Those pretzels are tougher than a flapper trying to find a dimebox on a Saturday night on Court Street.

OldOldOldCat: Singer seems like a nice QB, but I heard there's another big-time QB named Zaire that could be transferring to Ohio U. He's the cat's pajamas.

Ohio29: Why can't we serve alcohol at the stadium? Oh right. "Prohibition"

The Visionist: Games on Saturdays? Some day, wouldn't it be nice to have them on a weeknight? Maybe they could be filmed and shown at theaters outside of Athens! LOL.

Bobcat Victrola: Fellas! Hot stock tip! Put all your money in the stock market. I have inside sources that the market is gonna go clear to the moon by October. Trust me on this. Wiz bang!

Bobcaticus: Miami still sucks.

Also, The subhead using the term "fighting opponents" is the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Really jonesing for an Old Gold cigarette now.

[Rant on] Special note for Alan Swank: Take a look at how many times on this page Ohio University is referred to just as "Ohio" not "Ohio U." You see these references didn't start with Tom Boeh, or even Vern Alden, who considered the term "Ohio U." almost a firing offense. These references are much older, even going back into the 1890s. This is why, if it had gone to court, Cowtown U. was going to lose its shirt, if not its pants. The term "Ohio U." developed after A&M started the name stealing and it was a way to say, "we are not them." It was defining us by who were weren't. Very negative branding. Now, we have taken our rightful name back . . . and A&M has signed off on the agreement and all of their press releases about games we play against them in any sport now call us "Ohio" at the same time they keep their inane O-H-i-O cheer, and those t-shirts with the hands spelling it out. But, that does conform to the letter of the agreement, if not the spirit. [/Rant off]

I think that you should start a class action law suit on behalf of all OHIO fans.

They weren't called concussions then. They just got their "bell rung".
