If Rourke can cut down on the turnovers this will be a year to remember.

The next three years are setting up to be very special years. I'd like to see at least two MAC championships, and at least one New Year's day bowl. It won't be easy, but if they work hard, and play hard, they have the potential to do it.

Don't mess with the Bone Gods. I can remember when we expected a "special year" from the late Tom Lichtenberg's squad. He had gone 4-7 the previous season (winning the final four games) and appeared to be turning the corner. I believe we ended up going 1-10 - the lone win coming over I-AA Tennessee Tech - and Lichty was jettisoned in November.

First half of the season is going to be a killer. Four road games in five weeks, three of those being against good competition. UVA turned around a little last year under Bronco Mendenhall and seems to be figuring it out. Cincinnati is probably a year away from really exploding in AAC play, but Fickell is recruiting very well so they are talented. And then of course, NIU.

Tom also missed much of that season with serious health issues.

As long as Luke Fickell is the head coach, Cincinnati will always be a year away.

BLIND SCHEDULE TEST: Which is harder, Schedule 1 or Schedule 2?

Schedule 1:

BYE
@Virginia
@Cincinnati
UMASS
@Kent

Schedule 2:
@Iowa
Utah
Central Michigan
@Florida State
@Eastern Michigan
@Ball State

(Without giving anything away, these two teams meet in Week 7)
