That 2:00 start on Labor Day weekend is an attendance killer. For years we tried to have the first home game at night to generate student interest and enthusiasm. ESPN+, whatever that is, killed that.

+1 Not to mention it has the potential to be very hot/humid that time of year. First game at night was usually a no-brainer. And to move the time for ESPN+?? (Which, I think, is perhaps only a small notch above ESPN3)

It's actually below ESPN3. You have to pay for that content seperately. Think of Netflix-style ESPN for $5/month. That's essentially what it is.

Didn't we hear complaints the last few years for having night games and not day games. This group is never happy.

After all your ranting and raving, who would have thought you'd be the first to complain about a Saturday day game? (hint: everyone :) )

Labor day weekend used to be move-in weekend. don't think that matters anymore. 2 pm on a Saturday sounds about perfect.

I wasn't complaining I was just making an observation and reiterating Schaus' company line on the value of opening game night games for engaging students early in the season. I'll see if I can find the quote from previous years.

It's clear you're not happy about it. Anyway, I think you're overvaluing a night game (which by the way, students tend to clear out of pretty quick to go party). The Texas State opener in 2016 was a day game and packed.

You guys must have crystal balls or something. I passed no personal judgement on the game. I'll be there - one of the two Saturday games I can attend (those darn weddings still get in the way). Why don't we try something different this year - rather than going after the messenger, let's focus on the message. And that Texas State game started at 3:30 which was an outlier because from 2009 to 2017, every opening home game started at 7 except that one.
