Phil Steel’s #2 ranked scoring offense couldn’t get it in the end zone in this first scrimmage. Our young defense was flying around the field making plays. I’m sure the offense will get it together but it was a relief to see the defense play so well.

Scrimmages, not an indication of future performance. Freshman WR targeted 6 time, Meyer, White, Ouellette, Ross sat this one out. One segment included 10 passes in a row. Thirty-one rushes did average 6.3 yards per. One of the reports had Rourke completing in the high 60s percent of his fall camp passes. Still, scrimmages, no indication of future performance.

It is normal for the defense to be ahead of the offense in Fall camp. When the offense doesn't score, the usual question is whether that means a good defense, or a bad offense. In this case, given that the offense is mostly people who are returning, my bias is to think that this is a good sign, and that the Offense will be good, but the defense will also be good.

Yes that’s how I see it as well.
