AJ and Irons have the running back position solidified, why not redshirt Ross? We could have him for three more years. If we are not going to redshirt him, let’s use his 4.37 speed on options and wheel routes. Go Cats

Possibility of injury to AJ or Irons aside, your suggestion prompts these thoughts. Before the season we were reading that AJ had added to his speed. If he has, it doesn't seem to be showing. He is still slower to and through holes than Irons. And when he runs wide - either on a sweep or taking a pitch - he seldom can turn the corner. My suggestion: Instead of redshirting Ross, give him some opportunities to run wide.

Keep in mind that he can play 4 games and still redshirt. The coaches may pick and choose.

Totally agree with you all. Why in the world would the coaches burn one of these games on just some special team work with Ross!?

When was the last season this team needed less than 4 running backs? How often are they running walk-ons. This season is too long for 2 back rotation.

I’d like to see some jet sweeps run with papi. We need to get him the ball and let him use his speed in as many ways as we can.

Agree. We could use more movement, too. Our offense gets in formation and just stands there for 25 seconds. The other side gets a really good look at what we're doing.

Ross is dealing with a shoulder injury that will severly limit his action. Did not play vs. Howard. Would not be surprised if he dresses for 4 games to return kicks and retains the year of eligibility.

If Ross can't play except on returns, does Ohio have a back who can run wide and turn the corner? Other than Rourke?

Mike, the answer is no. Irons and AJ don't really differ enough in running styles. A healthy Ross would provide a Dorian Brown like option but it sounds like he will be shelved soon.
