Two aspects of this game really bothered me. No. 1, Virginia never challenged our secondary with the deep pass, yet our defensive backs gave their receivers far too much of a cushion throughout the game, especially on third down.Their quarterback never showed he could beat us deep. As it turned out, sadly, we never forced him to try.

No. 2, we got back in the game by passing the ball. Once the passing game got rolling, Virginia didn't have an answer to counter it. Yet when we got the lead down to 10 in the third quarter, we suddenly started playing as if WE had the lead by going back almost exclusively to the running game, which killed the clock. WE NEEDED THE CLOCK!!!

Hey, run the ball if you're getting chunk plays. But we weren't doing that. I'm sure Virginia was willing to play along with our attempted long drives if they milked the clock away.

Yep. Said same thing from the stands. Down 10 in 4Q and they run play clock to zero and then took delay of game penalty as they chewed clock by running the ball.

Albin was on his game for sure! Bizarre to say the least

And the running game got going when they got away from AJUTM. Running the option helped get UVA away from putting nine in the box, which helped take some pressure off the pass rush as well and helped open up the offense. I'd like to see them open the playbook some more. I don't think we've run our WRs or even put them in motion yet this year.
