2 down and 6" with a minute to go. QB sneak up to three times untily ou punch it in. This is on the coaches. Total choke.
+1 - I never understand why the playbook is so open, we get in front and then get so conservative with our play calling. Reminds me of our days back in 2003 where the joke was option, option, option, punt - option, option, fumble - way too predictable when we are in front.

AJ was 7-8 yards behind the line of scrimmage on that 2nd and goal call. The ball was on the 1-foot line. He should have been five yards back with a quick hitting play.

Coaches can’t close and all of the penalties were on seniors. We needed our seniors to be better. Why not give it to irons on first and goal. We just can never close in tight games. It will be tough sledding in the MAC, if we don’t get better with our discipline and execution.

When we ran the same pre-snap motion the second time I thought we were setting them up for a jet sweep as they jumped AJ up the middle.

That would’ve been creative, though.

Give the coaches credit; at least the goal line run wasn't Ross up the middle like on a couple of other plays earlier.

I love the Cincy offense and the way they get a fast and big tight end on slow line backers or a swift running back going deep on a line backer. OHIO offensive scheme has nothing like that possible.

Really, would the game have been this close if Cincinnati wasn't so totally undisciplined with their penalty after penalty?

Speaking of penalties--at the end of the first half when Cincy is trying to get a field goal with no time outs. Why not simply grab each receiver and hold them, burn 5-7 seconds and only costs you five yards--but no, they Bearcats make a mid completion and get the chance to kick.

Several highlight real catches from OHIO receivers. OHIO QB needs to improve accuracy--winged one over PAPI at about the two that a giant couldn't have grabbed.

We also needed Buckner’s speed, Meyer had a hard time separating. Is Buckner injured?

The biggest clown coaching show since I have been a Bobcat. The players were in it on the sidelines. We run it up their A$$ twice and it's over.

Despite our CB's giving 15 yard cushions for Burrow's cave D in the 2nd half, we were still in it to win it. I want to work for Ohio as an employee. I can get 14 years of job security and become complacent like Albin.

I have seen it all man. We handed UC the title as the 2nd best D-I school in Ohio with a mobile QB and 2 Csonka type RB's from 6 F-ing inches. J-O-K-E times 10!

The cushions on third down were awful. I think number 12 is better than number 23, but 23 will continue to start. Hagan laid some wood, but was a nothing burger in coverage. We have got to get better there. What is Fred Reed or T.J. Ward doing? I bet they could have our backs ready to rock.

Is there anyone on here who wasn't 80% certain we'd lose even when we were up 21-zip? If not, you haven't been watching for the past 5-6 years. This coaching staff is the Island of Misfit Toys.

I downgraded my seats for both FB and BB this year. Next year, another downgrade in football. I firmly believe this is a 4 win team.

Last week when we were down by 21 the thinking was "Man, we're down 3 TDs, too much of a hole to dig out of". Yet today, when up by 21, the thinking was, "Man, how are we going to blow this?" Our second half performance was inexcusable and that's on the coaching staff.

I hope you weren’t thinking the Bobcats were in the hunt for 2nd best D-1 school in Ohio.

I did think about the MACCG vs NIU in 2011.

Well that could have ended better...Albin can sleep on that one.
But there were plenty of positives also. The biggest one being we are getting better each game. I’m disappointed but still have hope that we will be playing good football when conference time rolls around....Okay, I’m ready now....let it rain down on me gentlemen.

Jet sweeps are very difficult to run in goal line settings based on the short field and where the edge setters are located. But hey keep running that play on XBox, it obviously works for you.

I think you could run a jet sweep or a read option play with Cincinatti stacking the middle or a quick hitting play or a silent snap quick hitting play. We could have ran the philly special or a pitch to Ross, not an option. The options don’t work because Rourke holds the ball too long, we will have a pitch intercepted or batted down eventually. You have to come down the line fast so that the second level of the defense can’t recover. We run it slowly waiting for the defender to commit and then we pitch the ball and the second level defenders are all over it. Albin needs to coach them up to run the plays right.

THAT was exactly what I thought about. I've reached a maturity where I didn't mention it aloud though.

It's funny that so many of us are tempered to expect failure, that we exist in a world where we can't win, we won't win, and we refuse to stop coming back for more helpings of hardship.

I suppose it's true: Bobcats are just happy to be Bobcats.

AJ pretty much criticizes the 2nd down play call in today's Messenger.

I last played a video game in 2004.

Brian Kelly ran them inside the five twice last year. But you keep thinking you know more than Notre Dame’s head coach.

The point was UC knew where the ball was going. Everyone in the stadium knew where the ball was going. Never going against tendency is this staff’s downfall. They play base defense with 20 yards of cushion. They run on running downs. They throw on throwing downs. They’re not creative or daring. It’s why they are 8-4 every year and why they’ll be 8-4 until they retire.

No, I ended up spiking something else. Last week we played a good second half after starting slow. This week we played a great first half and then couldn’t finish. If we can start playing complete games we will be a really hard team to beat. I’ve seen enough to believe we can end up in the Championship game still. That game should have been a W. Some bad play calls at a critical time benefited the opposition. But I still believe we are a good team which will peak next year. As I stated a year ago.

Hey, Einstein, I did NOT say you never run them there, I said they are very difficult, and would most likely when done against a certain scheme. Just because Kelly did it "twice" last year, makes it God like. Maybe you'd like our coaches to just copy what Kelly does, then we'd probably have as prolific offense as Notre Dame. I mean after all ND is a steller 66th in total offense, just slightly ahead of where OHIO is.
