OCF- Pretty bold statement calling me a liar! And Burner, I am not making fun of you by calling your brain broken? If someone has a different opinion than all of you, then many of you like to berate that person. What I have provided is the facts. However, many of you fail to realize these facts. Everything I have posted is the truth! Go check it out OCF. You are a former journalist. The truth is that Akron is getting $2.2 million for the two short trips to WVU. The Bobcats will bring in a million dollars total for three games! If you people think that the one game in Athens is worth over a million you need to buy riverfront property in Chauncey! This AD is not being fiscally responsible. Check out the Marshall crowds the last two times they traveled to Athens. Ohio has no business playing WVU three times for a total of one million dollars. WVU pays FCS schools 500 K and Ohio is making less than 335 K per game. Great deal! Look at the FCS payments Ohio has made to schools compared to other conference schools. Many power four schools paid the same or less than Ohio paid to a FCS school last season. Terrible business deal, but hey many of you excuse these blunders, so go congratulate her for these terrible miscues. The WVU and Marshall crowds will be similar. Play Marshall home and home and then play WVU twice for what Akron is getting. However, many of you think playing three power four schools in consecutive weeks is good for this football program. Check Toledo and the schedule they play. Do you see three consecutive power four programs on that schedule? Ask Jeff Boals if he would like to play 75% of his non league schedule vs power four schools? We all know the answer to that question. If it is fine for the football program to play 75% of non conference games vs power four schools, then why is ok for the basketball program to play zero power four games? Nobody seems to have a response for those questions.
Add to the math the ticket sales for the game. The only way to buy a ticket for WVU is to A buy a season ticket for $80 dollars or B go onto a third party ticket outlet like Stubhub which is starting at $127. If Ohio sells 15,000 tickets for the game at an average price of $100 dollars (conservative estimate) you are still talking about 1.5 million from the game then after that parking and concessions. The 2 for 1 is worth it for Ohio while the economics don't work as well for Akron.

Agree TWT. I think there should be a lottery for students. The first 4-5000 is reasonable. The band needs to be in the endzone steps, plus it's sharp. 2) put bleachers on that weird platform outside of the visitors locker room.. premium parking and don't run out of water. I know tower tixs are way up this year b/c of the game.. $1m is not unreasonable

What another joke! Nothing surprises me on how to waste money on facilities! Has anyone been in the restrooms under the student section in the last 20 years?

Don't take it so personal; I was just saying that the figures you cite don't support the conclusion you reach. I'm not disputing your facts, I'm disputing your conclusions. For instance, yes we are not getting as much money from WVU as if we'd schedule just road games. No one can dispute that. However, some of us think it was a good deal because we get a home game with a nearby team that will draw exceptionally well, help the local economy, and boost pride in our program. And, perhaps, a few WVU fans from Parkersburg will decide that the short drive to Athens to see college football is something they'd like to do again. This game should really help in terms of regional publicity and extending our brand. What you don't accept is that the facts you cite don't require one to come to the same conclusion that you did.

OCF- what you mentioned above has merit. However if you ask Frank or any conference coach for that matter, this isn’t the type of schedule that is good for a program. Playing three consecutive games vs power four schools is not good for a MAC school. Kent brought in tons of cash the last few years playing SEC and Big Ten schools but midway through the season they were down to third string QB. Frank had the philosophy of playing one big power school for money, one FCS team and two schools like Marshall or something comparable.
