I wonder if he can pry Nate Faanes or Kurt Mattix away from Charlotte to be DC. They are co-DCs. He has a relationship with them. Maybe one would take an out before the possible impending posse.

I know nothing but I wonder exactly how much player, student, alumni, and booster influence affected the decision.

Great move. Let's prepare to beat the Huskers. Let's prepare to beat the portal. Let's prepare to remodel Peden.

This adds a little more intrigue to the Battle of the Bricks. If I recall, the reason Nowinski and Hauser ended up here was not the defensive performance at Miami but that they and Chuck Martin didn't like each other.

Have the AD and President still brought shame to the university? Just trying to keep up.

I think this is a smart decision by the administration. Sometimes the obvious choice is the right one. The fact that most of our roster stayed around to play hard for Hauser in the bowl game is a great sign of the players support, and hopefully helps keep most of our recruiting class committed.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they agreed to a contract, but not the terms quite yet.

Gonna be pretty difficult negotiating over Christmas, getting everything signed off and read between the holidays.

Likely pretty similar to Brian’s, since he just signed it a few weeks ago. (ooooof)

This is the smart hire, and the safe one. If Hauser has a bad year, well, the fans and players got what they want, and no one can criticize the choice. Had he gone outside, and there was a bad year, the AD would face massive criticism.

This is the Christmas gift you don't return. This is the best news! The new AD chose stability and support vs doing what we wanted to do. I commend him and he definitely has my full support.

PS- I started following so many new people on Facebook and X who showed support. It's amazing how many fans, former athletes and alums wanted Hauser. To be able to continue small things such as the "We Love Football" chant at the end of games vs a new coach bringing in his new Rah-Rah speech means so much to our stability.

Stand up and cheer!

Great news! When we saw at the bowl game how much the players were behind it, I thought that pretty much sealed it to see how much they still wanted to play for him. And now we'll be able to keep foundation of the strong core of veteran coaches and positive football culture intact to further build upon.

I am thinking it might be a smart move to use this occasion to take further steps to keep this winning tradition going. Would it be good to either make Scott Isphording the Assistant Head Coach or hire another offensive-minded coach to serve in this role in addition to hiring a new defensive coordinator in order to ensure we can keep this train rolling? Any thoughts?

I agree that I think we made the right choice, assuming we did our due diligence in terms of additional background checking. I have no reason to suspect he had any skeletons in his closet, but in the situation we find ourselves in an abundance of caution was certainly warranted. That said, I can't wait to see the Hauser Era unfold. May he have many victories and bring us many MAC Championships!
