3700 portal dudes available.
That number alone stops me from jumping off the Richland Avenue bridge.
...
Just remember a few things. First, there is a lot of garbage in the portal. Probably 1/3 of the 3700 are players to whom it was suggested that they would get more playing time elsewhere, and who are looking to move down, or sideways, or to anywhere where they can continue to "pursue the dream". Thus, there might be 2500 decent players in there.
Then, remember that with double attrition this year, most teams will need perhaps 20-25 players from the portal. With 136 teams, that is ~2700 players needed. Thus, there aren't going to be enough decent players in the portal this year, so the quality of the available players this year will be significantly lower than in normal years.
Ohio is, so far, retaining a much higher portion of existing players than most teams. That is going to be a significant advantage this year.
