He would be a tough get, between us being one of about 30 interested teams and our history of being committed to the run (although, not like Army or Navy).

Body elaborates here: https://www.caller.com/story/sports/college/2026/01/05/mi...

Former Bobcat LB Andrew Marshall from EMU to Minnesota.

Didn't even realize he was playing for EMU but apparently had a good year.

K-State TE Andrew Metzger to Ohio.

Ranked #34 TE nationally out of HS and a ton of offers including us.

Didn't play much at KSU.

Marshall went to JUCO after his freshman year before going to EMU, so there probably is more to the story.

And Kobi Gorman from that 2023 class. What happened to him? He was one of our highest rated recruits.

Former Pick North WR Preston Bowman was on a visit today. Would be a huge get and would fill the Hendricks role I’d assume. Keep in mind we have a few of his HS teammates on roster too👀

I see Aidan Johnson posting that he was offered by Fordham and Towson. What am I missing here? From OU to Fordham or Towson? Unless he hopes he plays more there and then turns that into another bigger D-1 move in his senior year? I have no clue what these guys are thinking anymore. I would have thought Aidan would be counted on along the line next year.

Maybe Fordham was offering more money. Fordham has over a $1 billion endowment. I think over time you are going to see some schools you'd never suspect become football powerhouses because in this current era they can buy players that they couldn't recruit under the previous system. Vanderbilt comes to mind in this regard. I don't know anything specifically about Fordham's desire to pay players, but they probably have the resources, and like Vanderbilt they would be recapturing former glory if they used the current system to improve recruiting.
In terms of a kicker for next year, why don't we just recruit a kicker from Athens High School. That worked really well for us in the past!

You guys are so blinded by NIL and moving up to P4, G5, etc that you forgot the purpose of the portal. This is who the portal was created for. Aiden hasn't played meaningful snaps in 3 years. He was probably told he would not be playing and has been passed on the depth chart. Do you want him to waste his career just so he can be a bobcat? or should you be happy a 21 year old kid is being given an oppurtunity to get on the field and finish his career. It's not all about NIL money or finding a way to find a "bigger d1 move in his senior year". Be thankful for his contributions to the team and hope that he gets the chance to chase a childhood dream.

Dellenbach is in the portal. Kinda knew this was coming. Rough season, but thought he improved as the season went on, and hope he has a great career.
Kid was pretty terrible, and is now on to his 3rd school in 3 years. As a kicker.

Clicks and likes and the appearance of unlimited NIL funds everywhere have just destroyed these kids ability to think critically and work to get better.
Show some class. Your opinion on the portal is skewed. Dellenbach was in a kicking battle all year. Was probably told they are bringing in someone else or lost the position. Theres only one kicker. Do you want the kid to stay and ride the bench after being told to leave for some sort of "bobcat pride"? He's just looking for a place to play. Whether that is Marietta or Texas, it doesn't matter, some kids just want to see their hard work pay off and aren't chasing oppurtunites for NIL or to try and move up. Some of these kids just want to find the field. Be thankful for his contributions to the team and wish him well. Disrespectful to a 19/20 year old kid.

Name to keep an eye on: Preston Bowman, WR, Kentucky via Pick North.

Fingers crossed.

Would love him to join Dorwart and Pugh. Add the Uconn RB and the Houston Baptist RB and allow Levi Davis to ball (dream I know).

I’m not going to just trash the kid, but is there any way he will ever earn a degree after going to 3 schools in 3 years? As a kicker was he even on scholarship at UCLA or here?

Might need to accept he’s never going to be a pro and just earn a degree. Either wasting free rides or racking up debt without progressing towards a degree.

How important is it for Metzger, possibly Bowman, and other potential portal recruits to make their decision this week with spring semester beginning next Monday? I would think student-athletes (and I use the first half of this hyphenated descriptor satirically) would want to be on their new school's campus this semester to get a head start and participate in spring football.
