Ohio QB Parker Navarro has filed an NCAA waiver for a 7th season of eligibility, his agent @simon_pflum tells @On3sports.

The All-MAC QB has 4,740 career passing yards with 2,004 rushing yards and 56 total TDs. Has an 18−6 record as a starter.

If Parker gets a 7th season, we'd be good to have him back, right?

Or do we start our plans for the future next year with the trio of Hype, Tim, and Levi?

Good questions to ask imo.

Would Mr Navarro stay @ OU, or bolt, aspiring to bigger things?
Although his season wasn't spectacular, coach Smith hasn't groomed or allowed another quarterback to get ANY experience.
Risky either way.

I think he's looking for top dollar. Doubt he'd be back here.

I love watching Parker play and am grateful for everything he's done for us.

However... I think he's going to hit the Portal this offseason if he gets a 7th year. I don't want to fall into the "Cam Rising Trap" (ask Utah Utes fans about that) of having to rely on a guy for so long while preventing other players from developing.

I mean, young guys like Hype, Tim and Levi came here not so they could sit on the bench or stand up and hold a clipboard. They want to play. We need to know what we have in these guys, and if they can develop into something good.

And money talks. I won't be surprised if Navarro's looking at that and bolts to an underperforming Power Conference school.

I think Parker has gone above and beyond what we thought for OU. I would not be mad at all if he left and played elsewhere to make money. Would love to have him back and groom the new guys come in. Either way, Parker is one of the best to ever suit up in green and white in my book.

So what's his argument for year 7? He was hurt in 2022? Was treated badly at UCF? Treated badly at Ohio? Let's just give everyone 10 years at this point.

And he certainly is looking to get paid before a possible career in the UFL or CFL

Parker’s career:
2020: COVID (doesn't count)
2021: 4 games at UCF (redshirt season)
2022: redshirt at Ohio (elbow injury)
2023: played bowl game at Ohio and some mop up (year 1)
2024: starter at Ohio (year 2)
2025: starter at Ohio (year 3)
2026: ? (year 4)

Basically, he's trying to get 2022 as medical redshirt. Should happen. Would be classic 6th year…only 7th because of COVID.

He pretty much said in postgame the game against UMass was his last game here. He’ll have two Ohio degrees like Rourke. Never say never, but I'd expect his last game will be either Saturday or in MACC. We will probably have a new starter in the bowl game.

If he were to get a 7th year and returned to Athens, it would greatly increase the probability of Hendricks coming back IMO.

Parker’s UCF bio stats list him as playing five games in 2021. Not sure the bowl game would count against the four needed for redshirt??

If he were to be granted a 7th year, I’d guarantee it’s to get a shot at some NIL. Not in Athens. I doubt he’d make a UFL roster or CFL. Though he might have a shot at a gadget type. There isn’t much risk from his end. I’d get used to the idea of him as a P5 back-up. Maybe even head to down Florida State and rejoin Gus Malzahn. Head back out to Arizona and play for UA or Az State. Maybe Charlotte pumps out some high dollar NIL numbers after a bad season and they spend some on Parker?

Portal doesn't open until January 2nd this year so he should be around for the bowl game.

If all of that happens, would he sit out of the bowl game to avoid injury if he intends to hit the portal? Personally, dude is a superhero no matter what he decides. 38-3. The end.

Or does he play in hopes of increasing market value?

Not sure, Ted. I think his body of work over the years would seem to indicate what he can and cannot do. Not sure 1 additional game changes the analytics around his skillset. Unlike my feelings for some of the other basketball and football players being cherry picked from us, Navarro can do whatever he wants. I am cool with a dude that brought us a Title and did so in dominating fashion over the silver spoons from Oxford. I was a baseball player at Ohio and that win sent me to the damn Moon brother. I can't imagine how the Football Alumni about it. Legendary.

PS - not interested in getting into the wish them well, can't blame the player, what do you expect them to do rhetoric. That is an entirely lengthy and different thread already covered on here a million times. (not directed at you, Ted or anyone else directly).

I'm fine if he goes to chase some money at this point. I don't think there's any guarantee of playing at the next level and definitely no guarantee of a lengthy career. He did what no other QB could do in the modern era and we've had some pretty damn good ones.

Maybe we give him an offer and he's not able to find a better offer out there? Seems unlikely but not impossible.

I could see him going back out west where he's from. ASU will need a QB next year. Parker has similiar skills as Sam Leavitt, who has indicated he may go portal. No matter what, wishing him the best.

Parker to Georgia Tech because Navy and Army wouldn't want him.

Love Parker and would be glad to have him back, but on principal I hope the NCAA denies him. There is no reasonable basis for a 7th year of college athletics.

Ohio has a freshman QB from Olentangy Orange #7 Levi Davis coming in January. He'll be playing in the D1 State championship against St X on Friday night December 5th. You can watch the game if you have Spectrum cable. Or order it through the OHSAA site. It will give Ohio fans a chance to see the next OU QB in a big HS game.

I'm fairly confident Levi won't be the Ohio starter next fall, but he does look like a great prospect. Looking forward to seeing him.

Question on the 2026 QB situation: What is Poulos eligibility for next year? I'm having a hard time reconstructing his history. Did he start at Chaffey college, then transfer to El Camino for 2 _more_ years? And he only played in something like 2 games in those 2 years for El Camino? I assume the 2020 Jr College extra season eligibility wouldn't apply to him a la Diego Pavia. Although defining ncaa eligibility at this point feels about as fuzzy as defining war crimes.

This is his 4th year but if I recall he got hurt in the first game of his Sophomore year. He might be a redshirt if he wants it. Also, if the Pavia rule remains he should be back next year if he wants to be.
