I'm thinking the same thing CatsUp. They are all over different channels boasting their academic greatness (at least here in Cincinnati). We beat them like a tied-up goat. Coincidence or reaction to the whippin'? I'll tell you one thing - it has been great to walk in a local (Fiami Grad owned) pub and just wreck him and his buddies on the 38-3 epic beat down. They have zero comeback.

Looking back this was a huge loss for us on defense. He just won his second mountain west player of the week in the past 3 games after having 10 tackles, a sack, forced fumble, and an interception.

We could be shifting the footballl operating budget to revenue sharing for players...
Or to increasing the number of scholarships offered. Money has to come from somewhere.
They aren't going to increase football scholarships. That would require an increase in kind of women's scholarships to stay Title IX compliant. The name of the game is revenue sharing up to the settlement limit of 20.5 million. This way it acts as loophole to get around Title IX. Scholarships also have problems such as eligibility, cost of attendance etc.
And why exactly would we want to get around Titile IX?

What I was trying to say that any increase in scholarships would have to be matched on the women's side because of Title IX. The revenue sharing limit for this season was 20.5 million and scholarship money counts against that 20.5 million limit. Therefore its more cost effective to reduce the amount of scholarships to the bare minimum to free up the revenue sharing cap as opposed to adding 20 men's and 20 women's scholarships. Hence generally speaking the P4 is not focused on adding more scholarships.

So basically reducing scholarship opportunities for women so that we can pay a few players in football in basketball who will most likely take the money and run. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Institutions are handling it differently. Notre Dame decided to move to 95 scholarships in football because it was in line with their desire to be able to increase women's scholarships. Ohio it appears is sticking with 85 since there hasn't been reciprocal news about adding women's scholarships. Ohio is already operating the bare minimum of sports and scholarships required for FBS membership.

Iowa State, an eight win team, has over 40 guys in the portal. One click bait site claims the number is 47 (not official) thus that should be the first place to poach talent while on the flip slide, some of our guys who are leaving but not really top SEC or Big Ten level guys maybe could end up there in the immediate desperation ISU will have to rebuild and have a team at all next season.

I don't think it will be a problem for the new staff at ISU to find 50 replacements they like. The only guys P4 material in the portal at Ohio are Hendricks and Williams so I doubt ISU will go the route of signing both of Ohio's kickers in the portal or something else crazy to come up with numbers. Also ISU could give some of its upper classmen walk-ons scholarships to keep recruiting class continunity.

I’m pretty sure many of the Iowa state guys will end up at Penn State, so there probably won’t be much pooching of their better guys.

Does anyone know if Max Rodarte is coming back next year? Should qualify for a medical redshirt. He was at Senior Day, but no word about the portal.

Edit: sorry, wrong thread

Ethan Grunkemeyer into the portal. One of the few portal QB's from Ohio out there.

Maybe he saw Carpenter jump in and wants to lead the Bobbies to the CFP next season.

I'm kinda surprised the YSU QB isn't making the jump. He must be getting paid a lot of DiRussa's sausage.

That would be a HUGE portal pick-up, for anyone. You gotta think he's just waiting to see where some chips fall, since the portal officially opened today, I believe.. Likely has two years left. Maybe more knowing how much people are challenging rules left and right. FCS might no longer count in two years.

3,200 yards passing, 26 td, 3 int - 68% comp

1,469 yards rushing, 27 td.

Insane year.

Lot's of Mob money still around Y-town. Maybe some of that ends up in YSU's NIL bucket. [Sarcasm alert]

As an aside, I believe Penguin City donates a portion of their Penguin City Light sales to YSU’s NIL.

Jackie O’s has to rebuild, but maybe down the line they could be convinced. Same with Homage. Vessler seems more intent on cozying up to OSU (gotta pay the bills I get it), but that could also be an avenue. I saw a post with Dom the other day. Not sure if that was sponsored or not. Seems unlikely since they didn’t have Parker/Chase/Sieh, but we gotta start trying to figure out those two sources. Especially Homage. Clothes. Stadium signs. So many opportunities for that brand if they wanted it. Convo is old as hell and vintage. Peden is 100 years old. Nothing fits those old school vintage vibes quite like MAC football.

I think he's more of a pocket passer(?) so I'm not sure if he'll fit our offense

Technically, we don't have an offense. We don't know what our offensive style is with Hauser.

If Izzy is OC, we go back to 2023 style, also known as Frank Solich ball. Underwhelming and underperforming. 2023 MAC favorites with P4 (and some NFL) talent all over the offense and struggled to break 20 points each week. Can't imagine Izzy retains a Smith style offense.
