I'd sure like to see more commits coming into the program. To date I only see one. Possibly Boal's has some
portal players in mind to "salt and pepper" with the talented freshman class.

I’m not ready to declare the freshman class as “talented”quite yet in this new “normal”!! BRod and McDay were considered talented in their freshmen seasons and the play thereafter has proven to be less so. And since everyone is now a “free agent” we have no earthly idea who will even be in the locker room come next November. If I’m Boals I’d be looking to O’Shea my way to bigger-better pastures. Building a repeatable top-level MAC program in the middle of Appalachia in the “New Normal” will be trying to say the least!

I'm glad Boals is not you, and for the record TOS engineered a move from OHIO to Bryant University, a basketball powerhouse if there ever was one.

Everything about this is contradicting. BRod and McDay were talented freshman, but never developed (McDay didn’t finish his career). Yet, you think Boals should be looking for a bigger job? One typically needs to happen before the other.

Boals’ stock is down at the moment. No MAC school is in a prime geographic destination; but if Toledo can have 5 20+ winning seasons in the last 6; losing guys like Marreon Jackson and Ryan Rollins, then recruiting strategies need to be modified on our end.

Really? Doesn’t Boals commute to Athens? I’m well aware McDay “left” the program and by any measure BRod has not developed much beyond his freshman year. I won’t bother to list the parade of Boals recruits that have left Athens over the past 4 years but we will get the opportunity to see one come this Friday nite wearing a BG uniform and possibly be in their starting lineup. Yea I also admit this current freshman class has a “few” who have shown early “promise”. Not sure IF those few “promise” to return to Athens next year. And I’ve ALWAYS thought(since 1969} that Toledo is a far easier place to recruit to then Athens. BTW I’m in NO way a hater of all things Boals. I’m also not a blind-eyed Fanboy either. Boals in my opinion faces a monumental if not impossible task in attempting to keep the Bobcats at the top of the MAC in Athens in this new “normal”.

Well, I think we gotta ignore the what-ifs regarding future transfers. James and AJ Brown are contributing as freshman and virtually no doubt starters as sophomores. Gotta consider that a really good class in my mind.

The other what-if is Hadaway right now. Highly recruited. Kind of a tweener. If he finds a role and lives up to the recruiting profile then the class gets even better. But... time will tell.

Need some PF transfers next year....

Sam Town's was impatient. And apparently very bitter about it. I assume he's be playing a lot of minutes this year. But, looking at BG's roster I'd rather have Rashaun Agee....

Personally from what I've seen Hadaway has upside - made some good defensive steals and some solid shots in the games I saw him play in the Convo. Do think he is a bit undersized, but I believe this full summer will be huge in his development. AJB and Elmore - they will 100% be starters next year if they decide to stay. Ajay Sheldon - personally should sit the rest of this year but we should 100% play him if we make CBI / CIT

For whatever it's worth, at the women's game last night, the scoreboard ad for Senior Night only showed Dwight, Devon, and Roderick. Miles Brown's pic was not up there.

Makes sense. I can see Roderick being mentally exhausted from the last two years and opting to not use his COVID season.

As things stand right now, how many scholarships are there to give? I feel like I'm seeing two open scholarships without anyone leaving. That is accounting for Nicol, and Miles Brown staying, while Wilson, Roderick, Baker all departing.

With Nicol coming in and the Seniors leaving:

On Scholarship (10)
Nicol
Hadaway
AJ Brown
James
Sheldon
Adelodun
Ezuma
Clayton
Wiznitzer
Hunter

Unknowns (2)
Roderick
Miles Brown

So still one to give out, plus who knows with Miles and BRod? And I gotta think more open just because of the nature of attrition.

I can't imagine Adelodun coming back. He's had three years to make an impact and nothing.

Broderick took part in senior night festivities. Can't imagine he will have a change of heart and come back and honestly, we need to move forward with AJB and Elmore and let these guys run. Appreciate all that Broderick did for Ohio. His defense and hustle this year were obvious, but unfortunately as it has been well documented, he didn't make one big 3 in a clutch situation his last two seasons. His last big shot made was the dagger against Virginia and he gave us a memory that will last a lifetime with that one.

It still makes no sense how he completely lost his shot after Virginia, but he did.

Have to agree... I was looking for a 3 point sharp shooter for two more years. NOT!
