Let's wait and see on how the kid shakes out. Wasn't overly optimistic about him initially and this was one Kemp wanted at William and Mary. So we'll see if Kemp's eye for talent is good or is swing n a miss in a couple years.
Good point about Kemp being at William and Mary. But my point is....I think this outcome for Wight surprised a lot of us on BA. We will never know all the programs that showed an interest in him after being released from Ohio. But we do know that Elon (Colonial League, same as William and Mary) hosted him for a visit. We know he also got an offer from North Alabama, a new Div I program. I think some of us thought he would be talking to schools like Ashland and Ohio Dominican and Grand Valley State. I'm happy for the kid that things turned out better for him than that.
I am not overly surprised that this was the way it played out. You have to remember, when a new boss comes in, they want their guys and clearly didn't feel like Wight was up to snuff on his caliber of player. In regards to McDay, he felt he had something there so there was no need to cut the cord.
For me, recruiting is always judged by what we can get after the 2nd year. Usually the first spring is a jerry-rig adventure, year 1 recruiting is quasi put together, but the following year the in-roads have been made and the name is known. By that point, the barometer usually tells where a program is going.
