Has transferred from Northside Christian to Delaware Hayes, per Frank DiRenna from the Columbus Dispatch. That makes him a teammate of our verbal Burris.

He seems to be a legit prospect. From what I've seen and heard there are not many high school teams that are going to match up well with Delaware Hayes this year. Vanderwarker is drawing a lot of interest from Big 10 teams. Burris and Vanderwarker will be able to push each other to be better.

Impression from the Ohio Valley Classic at Mason this afternoon. Combo forward or 4 in an up tempo athletic lineup. Appeared to be the focal point of the offense even with Burris aboard. I'd compare him to Jason Carter's high post game , catching around the arc or the elbow, put the ball on the floor and get a good look at the rim. Solid prospect. Would be happy to have him.

USA Today ranked the top 24 boys basketball players in Ohio. Burris is #17 while teammate Vanderwarker is #22.

Strangely, Ohio recruit Ayden Evans is not listed.

Ayden Evans plays his high school basketball in Kentucky.

Saw this young man as Delaware overcame a double-digit half time deficit to win at Dublin Scioto. Very impressed. An honest 6"7, maybe more. Agile, fluid on his feet. Good leaper. Very solid defender and tough underneath on offense. Might have been 1 of 2 from outside paint so really cannot say much about his shot. More than anyone on court, including the Burris kid, he simply "looks the part." I would be surprised if he doesn't turn out to be a solid MAC/Horizon performer, based on what I saw tonight. If he continues to progress, he'll start getting offers from bigger programs (the Daytons, Pittsburghs, etc) He just picked up a VCU offer earlier this week. Hope we go after him hard!

Vanderwarker makes Div. I all-ohio 3rd team after averaging 16 pts and 7 reb. Vanderwarker quite possibly could have a higher ceiling than h.s. teammate Burris.

Interesting ... Kent not particularly known for going after a lot of HS kids, or at least not known for getting many of them. Looks like a solid MAC player.

Just thought Kent more of jucos and transfers in recent years ... but looking back the HS players they do get - VC Davis, Sullinger - have done pretty well.
