Ohio is recruiting 6'7" forward prospect Steve Taylor from Chicago, IL.  Taylor, a 2012 prospect, is ranked the 26th best prospect at his position by Rivals, and overall the 102nd best recruit in the 2012 class.

Taylor will be visiting Athens this weekend, along with his HS teammate, 2013 SG recruit Kendrick Nunn, per Twitter:

Taylor, considered by some to be the #1 2012 recruit in the state of Illinois, visited U. of Illinois last weekend.  Other schools involved in his recruitment include SIU, DePaul, Northwestern, New Mexico, Dayton, Iowa, Detroit, and TCU.

The Chicago Sun-Times offers the following scouting report:

Quote:expand_more
He's currently an undersized 4-man right now, likely a face-up 4-man at the next level, with a soft shooting touch that extends -- but is not yet quite consistent -- out to the three-point line. While he's not a bouncy, superior athlete, he does look the part with his length and basketball build. But Taylor is still figuring it all out--how to use his body, how to impact a game in different ways, how hard he needs to work, how to play with energy for more than just stretches at a time. He has one thing going for him in that he's a terrific kid. And if he does pop a couple of inches and becomes a 6-9 skilled face-up 4-man, then look out.

If we manage to land this Steve Taylor, I can only imagine the hijinks that would have ensued if Warren Swain were still announcing our games when Steve Taylor was on the court alongside Stevie Taylor...

Yeah, they would both be called "Leon."

Being reported that Steve Taylor and 2013 teammate Kendrick Nunn are both visiting Athens this coming weekend:

Simeon's Steve Taylor who tripped to Illinois last weekend is visiting Ohio U this coming weekend along with 2013 Simeon guard Kendrick Nunn

"Steve Taylor with the rebound.  Outlets to Stevie Taylor.  Taylor pushes the ball up the floor.  Taylor drops it off to Steve Taylor for the slam!"

Two is better than one in this instance.

"Coach, who am I guarding?"

"You're guarding Steve Taylor."

"Which one?"

I hope we develop a good perimeter game because everybody'll play zone to avoid confusion.

Chicago Simeon is in ESPNU right now.  They are beating up on a team out of Gary Indiana.

Either this team has got a lot of talent, or they just all wanted to follow Steve on his trip to Xavier this past weekend. Taylor and the rest of the Chicago Simeon team were sitting front row behind the basket for the first half of the Dayton/Xavier game on Saturday, along with a number of other recruits. I'm assuming this was an unofficial visit.

Caught a glimpse of Steve, which to say I saw how tall he was. May not be a legit 6'7", and he was wearing baggy clothes so I couldnt see how much weight he had.

Apparently he didn't want to share the team with his namesake Stevie.
