Might want to keep an eye on this one. Wants closer to home. We just hired an SIU assistant. Born in Peebles. I'm sure Marshall and EKU are other options.

I believe his brother was the MVP of the Pikeville squad that won the national championship in NAIA Div. I last season.

Might want to add Bobo Drummond to the list as he was recently granted his release from SIU (a la Levert).

Supposedly getting attention from UC & Kansas State now.

Interesting.  Could see this becoming the norm with the threat of postseason bans.

"All I want to do is talk to coaches right now," Setty said. "What am I supposed to do, just sit here and hope they eventually give me my release? It's just not fair."

"It's unethical, wrong and immoral," he added.

As Setty works in the classroom in an effort to obtain that 2.6 GPA, he watches names off the record-setting transfer list -- which is now closing in on 400 players -- make decisions on their future destinations."My options are already limited," Setty admitted. "And each day that goes by, they are less and less. All I want is my release and be able to talk to schools."

However, according to Moccia, the only manner that will occur is if he can get his grades to a 2.6. He's not going to budge. Setty told CBSSports.com that he thinks he currently has a pair of A's, a B and is struggling in his ethics class with either a C or D -- which could result in him falling short of the 2.75 he needs this semester in order to reach the magic number.

Both Moccia and Hinson said they will pay for tutors and summer school, but that's a small consolation to what Setty really wants as he waits for his appeal on Thursday: permission to speak to Division I coaches and ultimately the opportunity to continue his career elsewhere.

"I'm hoping, God-willing, that I can get a 2.6," Setty said. "But I don't think I should have to be sweating it out. It's wrong."

The intent of the APR, developed back when the late Myles Brand was running the NCAA, had no shortage of merit. However, it's flawed and needs tweaking. Not just due to situations such as what Setty, Zollo and Ferguson all find themselves in, either. Let's say a player has failed multiple drug tests or gotten into trouble with the law. If a coach dismisses him from the program with a GPA below 2.6, the school takes an APR hit.

I am thinking he might want to pass that class and fuly understand it before throwing ethics, immorality and such into the conversation. Also thinking his grammie may thing bringing God's will into whether he passes a course may fall into the very fabric of ethics and immorality in her eyes. My gram would have told me .."Thomas, GOd has very little interest in you passing a class, he gave you gifts you are not using....to ask him to will you a grade is not right"

According to Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports, Setty received a 3.0 this semester giving him a 2.75 overall. He is now expected to receive his release from SIU.

Here is an article that talks about Treg and his brother Trevor, who led Pikeville College to the NAIA national title two seasons ago.

Apparently, he was a major recruiting target of Charlie Coles and received an offer from Miami during his senior year of HS.

Right.  That's what football2007 said.  A visit to redhawk clinches it for us.

Apparently Setty is Jeff Goodman's (CBS) nephew.

Here's a tweet from Thursday night from a site called Recuit Dirt.  Don't know anything about the site but they seem to think he's going to be a Bobcat.

More than a week after he announced that he was about to commit, he still has yet to say anything.  It makes me wonder if possibly the school he wanted to commit to rescinded their offer.  I can't imagine he would just leave the program he wants to attend hanging.  If it's OHIO, he could very easily risk losing that scholarship if he does not provide an answer. I hope that Christian is not sitting around waiting for his response but is instead out hunting for the next great Bobcat.
