So this guy finished up with basketball offers from UNLV, FGCU, Mt St Mary's, American, New Hampshire, Towson, LaSalle, Robert Morris, Rhode Island, Arkansas State, and Bonnies. Football offers from Iowa State and Syracuse. And a track offer from NC A&T.

Lots of youtube footage. He's a hell of an athlete who can really get downhill and fly above the rim. This guy is going to get to the free throw line a ton.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0w6ZrXXx7zc

Now the roster configuration gets interesting. To the point that it raises some questions. The only guys exhausting eligibility are a point guard and our only two wide bodies. Our front court next season is Evans, Kuany, and Hadaway, and one of those guys isn't even here yet. And our verbals are two wing players. One scholly remaining really ought to be a big, but with athletes often finishing their undergrad in under four years, do you think maybe the staff is preparing for one of our current juniors or our redshirt sophomore to hit the portal? Reload on guards and wings now and go for a big or two later?

Welcome to Ohio, JJ!
I watched this game on YouTube:https://youtu.be/4bO67wqqm38?si=ke8hZt6GU8AkCHOe
He was a bit injured and had an off night but, as others mentioned, it's easy to see that he has the physical tools to play D1 ball for sure... I think with more dedicated focus on basketball, I am looking forward to seeing his game improve as his senior year progresses.

Go Bobcats!

Very interesting quotes. This guy doesn't sound like the typical portal jumper type. Looks like he might have chosen Ohio for the "feel" rather than going to the highest bidder. Long ago we used to get a lot of players who "fell in love with the town and campus." Seems much rarer to today. Seems he might be a throw back old school type, which fits in nicely with Boals himself. We will see how this develops, but so far I'm impressed both with his basketball skills and his general attitude.

A few days late, but what a grab. A10 and MWC offers + P5 football. Yea, I think we just need a big. Maybe, just maybe, with most of the guard/wing roster intact (knock on wood) with a number of HS recruits, we have some money to spend on more of an experienced big in the portal to complete next year's roster.

I can also see the idea to play Kelly at the four and go with Boals' preferred lineup of a point guard, three wings, and a center. Kelly's film reminds me a lot of Plowden from BG a few years back, who was often used as an athletic four.

Looks like this guy can go absolutely anywhere on the court and do absolutely anything. Valuable in today's game, great stuff!

His junior hudl video is really fun. I said earlier his film reminded me of Plowden from BG. On closer looks, I see a lot of Preston and Sonny Troutman in the way he attacks the rim, using euros and floaters. Very crafty, and great lift on the jump shot.

With a 26 point effort last week, JJ became his school's all-time leading scorer.

And, he's from a town full of Civil War history! What could go wrong?

I try to check in on our prospects' hudl footage here and there. Physically, this guy looks ready for college ball now.
