Saw Carter play tonight against Ashland Paul Blazer and he owned the game. 26pts, 8assists, handful of steals.  Nearly identical is size, speed, and command of the game.  He is being recruited by EKU, Miami-OH,Akron, and NKU right now but expect more and more interest.  Ironton also has a 6'6 power forward (Trey Fletcher) that Groce/staff had showed interest but Christian/staff has fallen off.  Radford on Fletcher now..  This team played in Miami FL holiday tourney and Carter came away the hot name...

Videos of both here as juniors....

Zac is no stranger to the Convo; he's been playing here in the district and regional tournaments since his freshman year.  He is indeed a player with good court vision and speed, maybe a bit shorter than DJ.

According to the inside sources that I don't have, Zac has a reasonable shot at Ohio Mr. Basketball.  According to the same sources, both he and Trey Fletcher like it here in the Convo.

Could be totally wrong on this, of course.  Ironton is in the D3 final 4.

Watched Carter play against Martins Ferry last Wednesday, kid absolutely dominated. Has a sweet stroke, can put it on the deck, crazy fast end to end, and can lock people down on defense. Also Ironton presses most of the game and the only reason he came out is they were up a bunch. His abilities could be somewhat inflated due to the fact he is playing against Division 3 teams from SE Ohio (no offense meant) but I would love to see him in green and white. Would hate to see another SE Ohio kid end up at the school up the way on 77.

I hope he shoots better than Cooper, sometimes being a clone is not good.

This kid is a Senior, right? We are all full on scholarships for next year already.

Verbalcommits.com had him with interest from Akron, EKU and NKU.
They also had a video showing him in it from 1:10-2:10

I didn't think I was too far off on my eye test.  Yes, he is a senior. Add Miami-OH to the recruit list.
Ironton in Final Four.  The Fighting Tigers are 23-2 and winners of 17 straight. They will play Ottawa-Glandorf (24-3) at 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the state semifinals at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of tosu

If he is indeed a Cooper clone, he should have actual offers by now, not just "interest"  Wonder how he did on the AAU circuit against tougher competition?  Any other "difficulties" that might have dimmed interest in the kid?

Would be nice to have an SEO kid named Mr. Basketball, but it would appear that Marc Loving at Toledo St. Johns has the inside track...

Saw him at the state tourney.  Hardly a Cooper clone from what I saw.  He looked much smaller than DJ from my perspective.  He had a bad game compared to the pre-game hype.  Everyone was saying that he usually plays much better.  Just didn't look good enough at state.  Reminds me of the guard from Chillicothe (Hutchins), I believe, that went to Akron and didn't pan out.  Hutchins had a much better state tourney than Carter!

On the other hand, the Fletcher kid looked like the real deal!

You're thinking of Humpty Hitchens, who transferred from Akron and had a good career at James Madison, averaging nearly 15 ppg his senior year.  I think there was some sort of family emergency involved and he did not have to sit out a year after his transfer.  Believe he's playing in Europe now.

Close to home.  Really, not a bad Div. I gig.  In recent years, the MAC has declined to the point where it is comparable to the OVC, only a little better than the OVC.  Morehead State is currently an upper division to middle of the pack OVC program, so landing there is now comparable to landing at a middle of the pack to lower division MAC program.

Couple things... First, a late thanks to Jeff for his scouting report at the Ohio - Kentucky game...
Second, this guy Zac showed well not only in the all-star game but also took the 1 on 1 honors, the 3 on 3 honors (with Wingfield and the Akron recruit) to boot. I think the guy can play... Was just concerned about his ability to finish in traffic at the D1 level.
Lastly, since we have an opening (Green leaving!?!).  Is there any room for Zac's 6'5" running mate? Seemed to score a bit in the aforementioned game as well...

The latest from southeasternohiopreps.com shows that he may not be committed to Morehead State after all.  Have to say that his stats from the Ohio-Ky game were impressive.  Akron, maybe??

He mentioned on twitter that he would like to stay close to home at Marshall, but they haven't offered him from what it sounds like.

Edit* Headed to D2 Walsh University per Chas Wolfe (twitter.com/highmajorscoop)
