Mislav Brzoja has been denied admission to Northwestern. The 6-4 SG is listed as having an offer from us on rivals. Anyone know if we have a chance?

He would be a great get for us, but I'm guessing with Wilkins on board we are looking for a big for our final scholarship.

One of the Northwestern recruiting sites reported that his plan was to go to Dayton if he didn't get into Northwestern. But the Flyers seemed to have moved on. I would think it's worth a phone call. It's my understanding that he is currently still in Croatia. He was coached this past year by former Bobcat great Dave Jamerson.

Jeeezz....if he is being coached by Davie J, how are we not on the short list now? I mean what else could possibly be discussed. This UD thing puzzles me. Campus so-so, city is not good and we still lose a few to them.

His teammate Milos Kostic (6'10" PF/C) just decommitted from Northwestern. Both Kostic and Brzoja are high-major players, worth a phone call.

They are more of a big time program than we are.  Atlantic 10...big time tradition...put 12,000 in the seats per game.

However, Ohio has some things to offer that should give us a chance against guys UD is recruiting...

They already beat us to Devon Scott during the early period. I would hate to lose another recruit to them.

I would assume that we are looking a big as well, but at this stage in the game, you take pretty much any talented player you can get.  I'd rather take a Big-10 level wing than a MAC level big at this point.  Besides, Wilkins only has two years of eligibility left.

With Kellogg, Wilkins, Hall, and Johnson all gone after 2014, we currently only have two guys left on the perimeter for 2014-15, and those are both PGs.  It sounds like Setty will likely get it anyway, but if that falls through and we have the chance to add Brzoja, by all means we should do it.

They're the only game in town [Cut to a downcast looking Wright State fan in Fairborn] in a city of 140,000. The Flyers get television and radio coverage akin to a major program and when they're really good Channel 7 covers UD like an NBA team. UD has multiple regional rivalries against major programs. The Flyers play in the best arena seat-for-seat in America.

I don't find them winning some recruiting battles to be puzzling.

UD is universally respected in the basketball world (except by Xavier who seems to have their number) and rightly so. They lost  to UCLA in the FInal Four in their history and have been legitimate most of the time period that marks modern NCAA hoops. Tom Frericks and Don Donoher were universally respected and there has been a hotbed of activity around UD hoops most of the modern era.  I have little doubt as to why we lose recruits there and suspect that we will lose more now that the A 10 got stupidly good.

THat said I think if this run up to wins over G town and subsequent wins to the sweet 16 are legit and the program is going to move forward a good measure will be how consistently we can out recruit the Flyers.

That was in the U.S. - there might be an issue with his grades from the old country ?

Dayton is maxed out I hear and can't sign any more.  I think he waited to long re: Vandy and they took a transfer from Tulsa instead. (and if NU wouldn't take him academically, VU might not either)

If Ohio is under the limit on schollies, they need to make their move.  Maybe get both of those kids.
