I guess I was spoiled with the likes of having DJ Cooper for a while, but don't you think we need a fundamental Pg who is not only a leader but a distributive PG with strong defense and court presence in an upcoming recruiting class. Abreu for Akron was never a favorite of mine but he meant a lot for that team and in conference play. What is everybody thinking about recruiting a solid PG? Just want to hear input. Not saying DJ was fundamental at all times, but I feel we need someone to distribute with our wing play and big guys coming in.

Having a great PG is like having a great QB in football. A good one can take you far, but a great one will take you places you've never been. Bad ones...well...you remember Bert and Ernie right?

I think JC is in a position to make a STRONG pitch to a PG. It is the key missing ingredient next year - so that makes me think JUCO transfer - someone with "distributive" Game. JC pitch - "Think of how many assists you will get with Maurice next year, then the wings and bigs we have the next year. We'll get a lot of wins and play for championships".

Not much as chance we get a Frosh strong enough to deliver quickly enough next year - the BigDozensTensCoasts conferences have a lock on that small elite group. Get a Top Notch Juco that is a True PG for next year, then put the press on for a Top Notch Frosh to come in the next year and be ready to help, then fill in full time as a Sophmore.

As some others have said on here - I think Bean needs to be in a SG role - in fact I would really like to see how that would work.

Getting a JC PG will not be that easy.  OU has two senior PGs returning.  Wouldn't you, as a recruit, anticipate them getting the bulk of the minutes?  A freshman PG is much more likely.  That being said, JC will recruit the best available player.  Crute and Nehemiah will be the 2s next year along with Wingfield.

I agree there. Even if we move Bean to SG, I think most JUCO recruits coming in are still going to see Stevie Taylor as a Senior and assume this isn't completely an open lock of a position.

That might not be a huge letdown for a PG coming in... You get good minutes as a Junior then can start a Senior. If that is the route we go, I am going to take the Optimistic route and assume the staff is confident they can pull one of the freshman PG's they are high on for next year..

At the same time, with Stevie coming back I think if there is a freshman PG we like this year this situation is very attractive to him. 2 Senior PG's then the show could be his... It isn't like we haven't had two excellent PG's starting as Freshman the last decade. Cooper obviously, but also Fears..

Dude--Bring in a defensive stopper who doesn't turn it over.  A bit of scoring.  That's it, done.

My time period was Jeremy fears, and diamond gladney and then since I loved OU so much I was there for the beginning of dj. I have to say a distributer and defensive stopper is what we need we need in this class. I think bean is a better sg as well especially an experienced one after nick graduates. I just wanted to see what everyone thinks.

Just looking at the way recruiting has gone, I still think there is a possibility that Wingfield handles the point every so often to spell Bean or Stevie next year. The two main guys Ohio is looking at, Dartis and Bolden, are both 2015 guys.

I wish I had a better feel for what Wingfield can bring to the table next year per PG

Some recruiting sites, like ESPN, list Kendall Crute as a PG too.

Saw Butler future PG Rene Castro is leaving school .......nice prospect. Does not pay to go at the HC but I am pretty sure that JC would set that expectation early in the process.

Hey Borna,
What happened with Castro at Butler ?  While I am asking that question.....what happened to the good frosh that ended up at Miami from Cincy.?  I think he was from Cincinnati Turpin High but not sure of that.  I know he left school aaround Thanksgiving, but never heard where he ended up.   I know that Ohio finished second in his recruiting process.  JC really liked him as a prospect.

Sorry did not see this down here.

LOts of rumours. SOunds like an immature kid and a coaching staff trying to hold the line on discipline. A series of toe to toes with the HC is not a good way to roll
